Earlier today, the Romney campaign sent out a new video highlighting Rick Perrys poor performances in the debates. But when I clicked on the link to the video, I got this message from YouTube: This video has been removed by the user. Sorry about that. Ive e-mailed the Romney campaign to find out if this is technical error or a deliberate choice to pull the video.
For now, though, here is the script (and the sources for the quotes in the script) for the video, as provided by the Romney campaign:
(Excerpt) Read more at nationalreview.com ...
The Romney campaign announced the new video, titled "Ready to Lead?" on Facebook by asking followers "Do you think Governor Perry would be able to challenge President Obama in a debate?"
The video includes footage from Mr. Perry's performance in Tuesday night's Las Vegas debate, which most observers agreed was the governor's strongest."........
I found this regarding the pulled ad.
Update: Bryan Preston e-mails at 10:30 ET to note that the ad has now disappeared from YouTube. True enough, but dont assume that that means its gone for good. Sometimes ads get pulled temporarily because someone has challenged a piece of footage in the spot on copyright grounds. Maybe theyre just re-editing it. If they really have yanked it, though, its a total embarrassment. Who greenlit an ad this brutal without clearing it with Mitt and his top advisors first?

So, it may reappear.
I'm sure Perry's campaign is preparing one of their own!
That's -- I'm running for office, for Pete's sake, I can't have illegals. -- Mitt Romney, GOP presidential debate - October 18, 2011 - Las Vegas, NV
Rudy Giuliani asked Mitt Romney the same question in the 2008 CNN debate that Rick Perry asked him during the CNN 2011 debate -- Mitt lost it both times.
Nov 28, 2008 CNN-YouTube Debate: Sound familiar? [LOOK who interrupts whom!!]
Funny Accent Mitt Romney, discussing reports illegal immigrants did landscaping at his home: It would "not be American" to check workers' papers simply because they have a "funny accent." [acknowledges need for giving health care and education to illegals]
I wish Romney would ask why Perry isn't pressuring them to release the names of the companies that hired illegals, if he is so tough on illegals?
Big names on list of companies ICE fined
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have decided that they are no longer releasing information to the public on companies fined for hiring illegal immigrants.
Despite talking tough about cracking down on employers who break federal immigration laws, ICE is withholding the names and other identifying information about the companies it penalizes, essentially protecting them from public scrutiny.
Richard Rocha, an ICE spokesman, said ICE attorneys have advised them not to disclose information about the fines because of a pending case before the Supreme Court that looks at whether corporations have a right to personal privacy.
Wed make the argument, however, that there is a public interest in learning which companies were fined. We have a copy of the list of companies hit with civil fines from 2007 through mid-July and, which was converted into a database and published here on the blog. (To view this database, click on the continue reading this post link at the bottom.)
For example, Westex Well Services, a company headed up by Texas Tech University Regent Mickey Long, paid $60,984 to immigration officials earlier this summer. (Thats the 16th largest fine nationally and the third-largest in Texas since 2007.)
Long was appointed to his regent position by Gov. Rick Perry in February 2009. He has contributed $135,000 to Perrys campaign over the years and is listed as his co-chair for fundraising based out of Midland. (Long did not return phone calls to his home or business seeking comment.)
There are some big names on this list of 220 companies: Koch Food of Cincinnati, LLC ($536,046), Johnson Dairy LLC out of Colorado ($100,800), and American Rice Inc. of Texas ($5,486). end excerpt
Come on Perry, show us how tough you are on illegals and those that hire them. Release the names of the companies so that the free market can work and people can boycott those companies if they want.
They keep changing that site.
Now there is an intro page
http://www.careerpolitician.com/
When you click on the intro page you get that big ad on jobs, but I noticed now there is a second video, smaller but its this one from youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qENAbpMM0A&feature=player_embedded
It seems that the central question in all of this is whether you all think this information should be made public, or if you think ICE is right to err on the side of protecting companies personal privacy?

The Facts --Mitt Romney's political ad [snip]
The spot's most striking image is a tumbleweed blowing along a deserted Texas highway. That's rich. It's intended to create the impression that Rick Perry's Texas is something of a depressed ghost town. Nothing could be further from the truth. Since the recession began, desperate job seekers have flocked to Texas at a clip of roughly 1,000 people per day. And they're finding work, too. Despite a huge population influx and a bruising national recession, Texas' unemployment rate remains below the national average. How remarkable has the Lone Star State's economic performance been? Read this Political Math analysis (written by a self-professed non Perry supporter), and marvel. One telling data point:
Rhode Island joins states allowing in-state tuition to illegal immigrants
Eleven states California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Utah and Washington have laws allowing the children of illegal immigrants to receive in-state rates if they meet certain requirements, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Plus:
Michigan universities set own rules on illegal immigrant tuition rates
That's the whole point. It shouldn't be private. There is a law against it. The personal privacy is a sham, they know they will get boycotted if their names are released. Plus it wouldn't look good for Perry. He has a conflict of interest here.
But at Michigan's public universities, the rules depend on the school.
At the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, the rule is clear: no discounts.
"They are eligible for institutional aid. I am comfortable with the policy," Regent Olivia Maynard, D-Goodrich, said of the policy adopted in 2005.
But at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, anyone who graduated from a Michigan high school, lives in Michigan and can show Michigan tax returns for a parent or guardian qualifies for the in-state rate.
But policies on how to classify the children of undocumented immigrants, who may have lived in Michigan most of their lives, run the gamut. Because Michigan's colleges and universities are run by independent boards, they set their own polices, unlike some other states where all the colleges in the state are governed by a single board.
Wayne State University doesn't ask for documentation on citizenship and would only ask for that proof if the potential student's application showed inconsistencies, said WSU spokesman Tom Reynolds.
"And that's been an extreme rarity," he said.
**This one doesn't surprise me since it is located in the most LIBERAL section of the state, so Perry has company.
**So, how does it work in Texas. Is there just the one college offering instate tuition or is it all colleges?
Just goes to show how that POROUS border affects other states and why citizens of other states are speaking up.
Does ICE tell Perry what to do? Who runs the state?
When Perry got under Mitt’s skin during the debate it made Romney appear petulant and unpresidential.
I suppose they don’t want to prolong the optic.
I believe you’re right.
Romney supporters must have flooded Mitt’s camp asking his handlers, what in the world are you doing putting out that video -— the MSM is carrying your water and you’re keeping it an issue by looking “petulant and unpresidential!”
LOL
I see you are trying to make Perry the problem but it just doesn't work. Just like trying to get the Federal government to seal the border and enforce the laws isn't working for border governors. Perry does not make federal immigration policy -- but here in Texas we spend millions of dollars from our state budget, and send a Texas Ranger force out to police the border -- FOR you.
It’s probably about copyright.
The fact that you don't see this as a problem speaks volumes!
CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Perry's own his co-chair for fundraising fined!
Do you have any evidence for your assertion? Information?
Try post number 2. CNN probably had a fit. Just posting my agreement with the site that seems to think this happens regularly.
