Congressman Darrell Issa is reportedly preparing a letter to send to the FBI about a mysterious “third gun” allegedly recovered from the December 2010 murder scene of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in Arizona, but the Justice Department is already firing back with assertions that the gun doesn’t exist.
News of this third gun first surfaced weeks ago, and Issa has been dogging this as part of his investigation as head of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He spoke Sunday morning with CBS’ Bob Schieffer and investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson, explaining that this investigation is hardly about politics, as Obama administration defenders are asserting.
Now comes the report on Fox News that the Justice Department is firing back at Issa. The department has issued a statement that says:
"The FBI has made clear that reports of a third gun recovered from the perpetrators at the scene of Agent Terry's murder are false."
This column is reminded of a letter sent to Senator Charles Grassley on Feb. 4, 2011 by Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich in response to the Iowa senator’s inquiry about Operation Fast and Furious. Here’s what Weich told Grassley:
“At the outset, the allegation described in your January 27 letter—that ATF “sanctioned” or otherwise knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser who then transported them into Mexico—is false.”
Who should the public believe, a California congressman whose investigation has already shown that the Weich claim was demonstrably false, or a Justice Department whose leader – Attorney General Eric Holder – may ultimately be the target of that investigation for having possibly allowed Fast and Furious to go forward, and who then possibly misled Congress about the extent of his involvement?

That's why Mueller is so quiet. He is in Fast and Furious to his eyeballs. It could not have "worked" without FBI help in undermining the NIBC system.
That’s what has the perps so horrified. They don’t know how much information Issa has already, such as the 3rd rifle’s number, even the name of the FBI or DEA CI who might have shot Brian Terry, etc.
Once these nimrods are in front of Issa, they are going to be screwed. Including Mueller, for approving the subversion of the NIBC system, in order to allow gunwalking felons to buy hundreds of assault rifles.
Mueller is going DOWN.

Imagine the political machinations going on between the 16 named in Issa’s subpoenas. They must be shi++ing bricks, wondering who among them has already flipped to Issa and turned over everything, but in secret, having made a deal.
The first to flip gets the best deal. They all know it. People are going to prison. Perhaps even Holder and Mueller.
A very clear “smoking gun” will be the email trail and orders leading the FBI to subvert the NIBC system to allow felons to buy weapons. That will be like a homing missile coming right at the top floors of DOJ/FBI/ATF.
Hate using OJ defense teams quotes but, I can see a day when Chairman Issa is showing AG Holder a picture and asking, “What about THAT Mr. Holder?, Isn’t THAT the THIRD WEAPON, MR. Holder?”
Can’t wait for Issa to invite Mr. O’Reilly into his chambers for an interview....(Bring him back from Iraq without Holder knowing.....?) heh, heh!
What does it matter if it's 2, or 3, or 1, or 10? They gave thousands of weapons to the worst of the worst. Hundreds are dying because of it.
What is the particular significance of the third weapon? How does it make the thing even worse? I am sure it must because there is so much tension regarding it but what is that significance? Anyone?
Apparently the 2 known F&F weapons are not a ballistics match to the bullet that killed the border patrol officer. If the 3rd weapon is from F&F and was used to kill the officer, then the oddicer’s death is squarely on the head of whoever backed F&F.
It sounds like Holder and company are desperately trying to deflect blame in an increasingly dire situation.
Two three or not two three, that is the question.
These people need to go to prison.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but from the beginning they have said neither of the two gunwalker AK’s recovered were proved to have killed the agent. Anyone want to bet that the third one is the ballistic match and that it came from a similar Texas gunwalker program?
