The battle for the Republican presidential nomination erupted into all out war tonight as Mitt Romney and Rick Perry got personal in a series of angry clashes.

Standing almost toe to toe, the two men repeatedly held up the debate as they bickered over everything from immigration to job creation.

More than likely "home" is going to be one of the top nations in the world.

People who imagine Mexico to be a totally disgusting third-world "hellhole" have no clue about how bad MOST of the world really is.

It is not punishment on this planet to be sent home to one of the better countries.

Romney is as arrogant as Oboma. They both have that self deified air about them.

Elite Mitt feels entitled and this whole debate campaigning thing (AGAIN) is pissing him off.

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but did you realize if you rearrange the letters in “NORMY” you can get “ROMNY”?

Neither is presidential material. OK, if the silly voters of their respective states wanted them as governor fine. OTOH that where their lack luster career should end. They have no business in the WH. This is why debates help. They sort out the chaff.

And Perry smiled when he got the money quote from Mitt: Romney: 'Look, you can't have any illegals working on my property. I'm running for office for Pete's sake! I can't have illegals.'
Not, because it is illegal, but because he is running for office. He really took that bait.

Dana Perino called Rick a bully on F&F.

You gotta be kidding! Romney belittles everyone else on that stage every chance he gets. He believe he's soooo far above all the rest.
In my opinion, Romney is the monster. He's obnoxious!

He makes me want to puke, and that's no joke. I don't know exactly what it is about this guy, but he literally turns my stomach.

Top that with Mitt's "funny accent" quote from 2008, and the Hispanic vote stays home or the Democratic Party voting rolls explode and we get 4 more years of Obama and the end of free market capitalism.

The Dems were probably a little disappointed that Rick Perry hit Mitt Romney on this issue and they didn’t get to.

If you didnt hear it now, you were definitely going to hear it from them.

Mitt the hypocrite.

Absolutely True. “The Bush machine is in the bag for Romney.” Dana Perino makes me tired. I have complained to Fox News about her appearance and manner on The Five.

I am afraid that the ‘establishment’ GOP is determined to have Romney as the nominee. Romney is slick and Perry is a nice guy.

I want to unseat Romney come hell or high water. Anybody but Romney.

Romney lost his ‘kewl’ with both Santorum and Perry. Romney showed he had difficulty handling direct confrontation when he is pushed off his script. CNN post-debate commentary said the WH was looking on and ‘liked’ what they saw with Romney [his imploding].

Santorum reminds me of a little yap-dog, but he did score a few direct hits at both Romney and Cain.

Cain and his 999 took some direct hits. His ‘their numbers are wrong’ without further explanation and his ‘details are on my website’ are weak responses.

Too bad Newt is Newt. He always has many good lines, but he also has a trainload of old baggage from the 90s that would dog him through the election, if he started rising in the polls.

==

If we would take the good parts of each one and create an entirely new ‘candidate’, would we have a good candidate or just a Frankenstein monster?

Dana Perino called Rick a bully on F&F.

She has proven on The Five program to be a person who is NOT confrontational. She strikes me as someone who is one of those GOPers who is straddling the center line instead of dealing with differences in political views. ...She has really disappointed me recently in her appearances on FNC.

I think it was Romney that was the big bully all evening, as he spewed lie after lie on Rick and others when he knew they wouldn’t have time to properly reply and dispute the lies. Romney is slime.

“The Bush's are in the bag for Romney.”

Absolutely—once again the readers of this site are heads and shoulders above all the mass media. I've been reading the news all morning and haven't come across anything as intuitive and intelligent as the two posts on this string by this Freeper. Romney is showing his true colors—and they are an ugly combination of power-seeking hypocrisy masquerading under the guise of a successful businessman. His father was a senator for God's sake—do you think Romney stated from the bottom? As for Perry—he's a laconic guy from West Texas. The men don't talk a lot out there, and when they do it's because they have something to say. Perry isn't glib. Thank God.

I'm a Cain supporter but I gotta say Perry did a good job getting Romney flustered and he not only got him to admit that he was trying to look good while running for office.

He also caught in a Romney lie on camera!

Mitt Romney: [laughs] Rick, I don't think I've ever hired an illegal in my life and so I'm looking forward to finding your facts on that because that just

You stood here in front of the American people and did not tell the truth- that you had illegals working on your property and the newspaper came to you and brought it to your attention and you still, a year later, had those individuals working for you. The idea that you can sit here and talk about any of us having immigration issue is beyond me. I've got a strong policy: I've always been against amnesty. You on the other hand were for amnesty.

Number two, we hired a lawn company to mow our lawn and they had illegal immigrants that were working there and when that was pointed out to us, we let them go

“I don't think I've ever hired an illegal in my life”

“Number two, we hired a lawn company”

Now if we can just go for the kill shot on his character and lying we will be in business.
