Herman Cain Presses No Compromise Pro-Life View on Abortion

Washington, DC -- Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain pressed a no compromise pro-life view on abortion during a weekend interview with Meet The Press, and told host David Gregory he would not support abortion, including in cases of rape or incest.

Good for Cain. The ONLY reason to oppose abortion is the belief that the fetus has individual rights of its own regardless of how it is conceived.

Herman says what he means and doesn't use aids to decide what he believes.

One reason Herman can speak so easily and without a teleprompter is that he knows what he believes and isn't afraid of stepping on his crank.

Like anyone he can get a fact wrong now and then, but he knows his values.

Agreed. Pro-lifers make a tactical error with the rape/incest exception.

How so?

AND here he explains his 999 plan:

Actually he was a bit contradictory in his response. After firmly stating his opposition to abortion under any circumstances - even under rape and incest after Gregory trotted out those favored liberal examples, noting that the examples where those might be called for are so incredibly rare - he later seeming to reverse his position when Gregory brought up ‘life of the mother’. Cain’s response, that family would have to make that decision, seems to indicate some wiggle-room in his position.

If all life is sacred , and it begins at conception, than a life created by rape/incest is still sacred. Making an exception for rape/ incest means one is making a judgment of who will live and who will die.

because it still devalues the innocent. it turns a rape victim into a murderer.

LIFE OF THE MOTHER IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION.

Usually, if the mother dies, so does the baby. Better one death than two.

We need for him to drop his 999 plan.

EVERY person considering themselves pro-life should get on the Cain Train, for this reason alone.

There was no equivocating on the part of Cain, the "life of the mother" exception was originally intended to allow the mother to end the pregnancy IF (and only) if) to continue the pregnancy could result in her death or irrecoverable injury.

A life is conceived. That life has no idea of how it was conceived, nor by who, which is why the 'rape incest' exception is a bogus reason to permit an abortion.

You can best believe that Herman Cain will stand for the rights of the unborn.

I *ant* a thriving stock market! I want a decreased tax burden. I want the 80,000 page tax code reduced to nothing. I want jobs coming out of our ears! I want the rest of the world outsourcing jobs to US! I want gas prices dropping!

Go Cain! Give us back a thriving America! :)

The “wiggle” is between your ears, and its about as wide as a basketball court. There has never been a case of an abortion saving the life of the mother, but abortions have cost the life of the mother over a million times.

Cain’s answer was the only possible one to give to such a mendacious question.

Why? It addresses business concerns. It addresses jobs. It addresses faiarness.

Now you state your case.

Why? Arthur Laffer, the economic-ideological father of Reaganomics endorses the 9-9-9 concept, and when Ronald Reagan instituted Laffer's policies, it resulted in the longest economic boom in U.S. history.

It really IS a simple question:

Do we want to keep the current unintelligble tax 'system', or do we adopt something that is more fair and equitable and does away with loopholes, exceptions, handouts and initiates a new standard of "everyone pays their fair share"?

Sign me up for 9-9-9, Ronald Reagan believed in the same basic concept (the Laffer Curve) and he would endorse it today, in my opinion.

I understand the “rape/incest exception” from a political perspective, but it makes no sense. If the fetus is a living being, it has the right to life regardless of how it was conceived. If it isn’t a living being, we have no business telling women what to do with it, regardless of how it was conceived.

That is one of the best reasons to get him to drop the 999 nonsense; a sales tax will cost millions of small business jobs.

A sales tax here will do the same as a sales tax (VAT) did to europe: Wipe out most small businesses, and small business is over 80% of American jobs.

Cain didn’t invent that nonsense, and he needs to drop it before the general election, because it could be used to crush him.
