General Motors is again poised to sell an all-electric car in the United States. The Chevrolet Spark is described as a “mini-car.” It will initially be available at California dealers in 2013.

A gasoline-powered version of the Spark is due in the U.S. next year. It has already proven successful in other countries, including India.

Although it will be smaller, the Spark is designed to directly compete with the Nissan Leaf, which is also pure electric. It will complement the Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid, which has a gasoline engine that kicks in once the electric charge is used up.

I don't know what the excitement is all about ...

LOL. You are right. In essence, it will just be paneling around a golf cart. Built by union labor, I’d say it will go for $50K. And it will have to be subsidized since no one will want to buy one.

I think the name “Spark” is ill advised - unless you’re in love or had a heart attack it doesn’t denote something desirable.

The Volt is being used to sell the Cruze...the Cruze is selling at a rate of 25 to 1 compared to the Volt.

I couldn't grap the photo, but the caption underneath states;
"With retooling of its Hamtramck plant completed, GM expects major increases in Volt sales in the coming months and years."

Now, IIRC, Hamtramck is the first muslim enclave in America.

And with Obama’s EPA causing the closure of 20% of the utility plants, just how do they propose people will charge these things up??

A little fun fact they forget to mention in their articles.
