In his recently released book, Cain -- who served as chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve from 1995-1996 -- wrote that Greenspan "was a very effective leader who did not make unilateral decisions."
In his book, Cain wrote that when he was chairman, he "would go to Washington to meet with the Federal Reserve's chairman, Alan Greenspan, and the other governors so they could receive firsthand anecdotal feedback."
Cain, in his book, also said his work "demonstrated to me that we need the Federal Reserve, contrary to what some people, including at least one of my current opponents for the presidential nomination, believe."

How gullible are conservatives anyway?
Perry is the real outsider with a conservative governing record.
lol who cares.
Right, except for that in state tuition for illegals problem. Oh, and you talk about the Fed...didn’t Perry meet with Bildebergers. No thanks.
...
I’ve wondered about how Cain got involved with the KC Federal reserve. He was an outsider who sat on the board for just a few years. Although it was in Clinton’s first term, he was a known Republican at that time, and had been on Dole’s election team.
According to Wikipedia, which is presumably accurate as to the basic facts and dates:
Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, 199596.
Deputy Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, 1992-94.
ZZZzzz...
Maybe he is outsider on the inside?
As much as I like his positions, unfortunately for him, there is more to it than that.
I am more than willing to give Cain a shot. He has executive experience (ie he can make decisions). He also has a philosophy I support.
And to suggest that the only politician in the race is not an outsider....
I appreciate Perry's stand on many issues and in particular his support of the Boy Scouts, but he is unelectable in a national race. He has great difficulty in stringing a sentence together. We would be trying to drag Bush III across the finish line, cringing at the next thing he might say, or not say.
His position on illegal immigration may play well in TX, but not to average folks who believe in the rule of law.
He would be believably painted as a crony capitalist and therefore unable to effectively attack Bammy on corruption. And even if elected, I don't think he would actually do what's necessary to fight overspending.
And about Alan Greenspan, the man certainly has his faults ("irrational exuberance," anyone?), but at this point I would gladly trade our current mess for a Greenspan economy.
You post this as if this is news. Have you not ever been on any Cain threads all this year? This is not news, it is even on his bio at his website!
In fact, Herman Cain was a Class C Director for the KC FED...his job was to act as a liaison between the bank president and the business community

As for Greenspan:
Alan Greenspan (born March 6, 1926) is an American economist who served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve of the United States from 1987 to 2006. He currently works as a private advisor and provides consulting for firms through his company, Greenspan Associates LLC. First appointed Federal Reserve chairman by President Ronald Reagan in August 1987, he was reappointed at successive four-year intervals until retiring on January 31, 2006 after the second-longest tenure in the position.
“How gullible are conservatives anyway?”
///
apparently, you think they are very gullible.
...yet another Perry supporter, stooping so low as to use liberal sources and smears against Cain.
as a person, i actually like and admire Perry.
i think he’s personally and morally a good guy.
and i hope he’d be appalled, at such tactics.
- - -
but really, is this seriously the worst you can come up with?
even a Paulbot could do better than criticise Cain for this saying about Greenspan:
“was a very effective leader who did not make unilateral decisions.”
...if i mention that Mussolini made the trains run on time, would you call me a fascist? probably.
Cain is -NOT- a lifelong career establishment politician. Cain has real world experience. Including in the Federal Reserve.
He knows what is wrong, and can fix it, a lot better than someone who once thought Al Gore was the cat’s meow...
so i’ll take the guy who simply said Greenspan “didn’t make unilateral decisions”, over the former Democrat who actively chaired the election effort for Al Gore...
See my post ^^^
Cain’s own book is a liberal source?
Wait, I thought the operative word was "heartless."
Why is it that you and your candidate believe you must insult the very conservatives whose support you seek?
I’m not a Greenspan cheerleader, but Lord knows we’ve done worse. At least Greenspan when to Congress at least twice to warn about the foreseeable housing crash but was ignored, thanks to the fix being in with Clinton/Dodd/Frank.
I hope Cain will rethink his position and would select Stuart Varney.
You are so sad, desperately sad.
