Weekly Standard: Is CBS News Silencing ‘Fast and Furious’ Reporter Sharyl Attkisson?
Mediaite ^ | 10/6/11 | Tommy Christopher

The dust-up between CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson, and spokespeople from the White House and the Justice Department over her reporting on Fast and Furious, has become a cause celebre for the right, and a meta-story all its own. Jay Carney responded obliquely to the incident at yesterday’s briefing by pointing out that “tough conversations” are all in a day’s work. Mark Hemingway, of Bill Kristol‘s Weekly Standard, adds another layer to the onion by conspiratorially asking if CBS News is “Silencing Fast and Furious Reporter” Sharyl Attkisson.

Attkisson herself reassured her Twitter followers, following Weekly Standard‘s report, that “Nobody is being silenced. Thanks for the interest in the reporting on Gunwalker.”

That response, however, hasn’t penetrated the breathless conservative blogosphere, for the most part.

Attkisson described to Laura Ingraham how a DOJ spokesperson had “yelled” at her, and White House spokesman Eric Schultz “screamed and cussed” over her reporting on Operation Fast and Furious, a botched federal gunrunning sting. Reporting about reporting is somewhat unusual (not unheard of), but in this case, the attention being paid to it obscures the fact that Attkisson actually did a pretty fair job of conveying the administration’s objections in her interview with Ingraham.

The “why is this a story?” refrain should be familiar to any reporter who has ever talked to a pr

I saw a report on a morning CBS show yesterday. I have no idea who the infobabe was but if that is all one saw they would definitely have gotten an odd view of the facts.

It sounded like this was all a Bush program, his name was mentioned several times and Obama not a single time. It was also said that it started 4 years ago.

Oh, I forgot, she also mentioned how the “Republicans” were trying to blame Holder. I don’t recall the exact words but that was the basic idea.

Not to worry about the coverage.. just in the past couple of days the Lefties have manage to spread "BUSH DID IT! BUSH DID IT!"

So now the story officially has legs.

“... she also mentioned how the “Republicans” were trying to blame Holder.”

If it looks like it ...
If it smells like it...
and if it draws flies..
it’s it !!

The more memos that get released by the WH and the DOJ to the Congressional Committee all have footsteps leading up to the Higher Offices in Washington .

The key here is exactly what did Eric Schultz say to Attkisson.

In her own words:“They will tell you that I’m the only reporter–as they told me–that is not reasonable,” she told Ingraham. “They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.”

So, those news outlets covering-up for the Obama Administration are 'reasonable'.....the rest are not!

This speaks volumes about the incestuous relationship between the MSM and this White House.

The White House actually EXPECTS the MSM to carry their water!

We know the MSM is liberal in their beliefs as is reflected in their reporting. We even know they are reluctant to question a Democrat as quickly as they would question a Republican.

However, when the White House EXPECTS the media to assist in a cover-up, what does that tell you?

Why are people so afraid of the Chicago mafia? Where are the true heroes are they all in the military? It seems liberal journalists are cowards.

It's like the WaPo and the NYTs telling Woodward and Bernstein:

“Hey,cut it out you guys! Leave Dick alone. You want us to be called bigots for picking on a Quaker?”

The never ending scandal known as the Obama Administration is Pulitzer Prize time for any reporter with the guts to resist Political Correctness.

Yeah, except MOST “journalists” today are weenie babies....like Rush said today at the end of his show...someone should drive by Sharyl Atkisson’s house and make sure she’s okay...

My guess is that there are multiple individuals leaking emails such that the too untrue crew are having to give those emails out or face obstruction. Issa may already have the goods.

So Jay should be asked a snoot full of tough questions. After all, it's all in a day’s work.

There was a time when CBS was the gold standard in broadcast news.

I thought I saw a glimmer over the last few weeks...

It doesn’t seem like “See-BS” has silenced her: She was just on the BoR Factor and was quite forthcoming.

This may actually get some legs, especially when the number of dead Mexicans is revealed to the public. It’s already over 200.

“They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.”

How could they NOT think this..? Why Michele Obama was SOOO comfortable with their media arrangements that she pointed out to a reporter in an interview that they feel GRATEFUL to the press for their support over the years..!

The media has carried their water, and they FEEL GRATEFUL --very consanguineous.

And I'm happy for this because the major networks in 3 years will mostly exist in name only via 2 forces; the web and their increasingly obvious role as guardians of the establishment.

She looked uncomfortable on BOR tonight. I’m sure she is afraid she’s going to get fired.
