Foxnews ^

Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria will implement an anti-tobacco policy for its entire campus starting July 1 of next year, expanding the policy put in place two years ago for employees of the women's and children's areas.

The Town Talk reports the policy will prohibit the use of tobacco products by employees while on their shifts, including when they are on breaks. It also will not allow employees to work if their clothing smells like smoke.

If I am critical, and he smells wrong, to someone who is charge of smells, I die. Great.

‘third hand smoke’...???

Are you serious?

That means that anyone who went to a BBQ for their lunch break is now considered a hazard.

This is going too far.

GOOD! Some people (ME) have a strong alergic reaction to tobacco smoke or smoke of almost any other kind. A strong alergic reaction by a very sick person already in hospital could be fatal.

I am a former smoker who really doesn’t like the smell of smoke on people. But I would never ever let them know that I am reacting to that scent in any way because it would cause hurt feelings over nothing. Now how about leaving a restaurant because they sent a he/she to serve me and that is not going to happen. No touching my food, plate or anything if you are a man wearing eye shadow. Lets see a few news stories about that.

K. And what am I supposed to do with the 3 cans of Nicotina(tm) air spray that I bought just Friday?

I already sprayed the Cuban Cigar can into my clothes closet.

If I don't smell like tobacco, see if you can detect a hint of embalming fluid, because I might be dead.

20 years ago I warned that we were going towards outlawing tobacco while legalizing pot. I was laughed at. Here we are.

That said, I smoked for 33 years. Two months ago I started taking Chantix, a neural blocker for nicotine. What it has done is make me hyper-sensitive to smoke. I can be walking down an aisle in a grocery store and smell somebody two aisles over who just smoked a cigarette. I still get urges, but would consider putting a sleeve of tobacco in my mouth and setting fire to it no more satisfying than literally licking an ashtray. If that’s what I’ve smelled like for over 3 decades, I can’t say’s I blame them for passing this rule.

I never expected it to ever happen. But as I sit here listening to my hubby gag & cough....I do know that some people just can’t tolerate that stink. On people’s clothes it is even more unbearable to some people. He will probably be on oxygen sooner than later as his sense of smell is so vivid. Why it is happening after all these years has us scratching our heads. Is there some ailment that makes the sense of smell more acute? We sure would like to know as the doctors just shrug their shoulders.

Some one who lives in house full of smokers, got a big problem, but I guess that wouldn’t happen in Louisiana, that is, a house full of smokers.

So, Obambi wouldn’t be able to even empty bedpans at this hospital!

Incremental . . . one lousy step at at time . . .

Fascinating how, during WW!, WW2, and the subsequent years, smokers were never bothered by the company busy bodies, and yet they turned out incredible amounts of materials and products.

Ever since they changed the name of Personnel to Human Resources, we’ve seen our Civil Rights demolished, incrementally, one step at a time. I entertain people now when I tell them that “Personnel’s” main job was to solicit candidates for jobs.

Then, one day, they became Human Resources, and all hell broke loose. Now they’re into “Do you beat your wife?”, “Do you smoke?” “Do you drink?” “Are you overweight?” “Do you scratch your a$$?” “You didn’t dot an ‘i’ on your resume!” “If you could be a tree, what kind?” “With what hand?” “What’s your biggest weakness/strenght?” ETC!

The funny thing is that lots of the folks that claim to have an 'allergy' to smoke, don't show positive on a scratch test.

Think psychosomatic...

What should be banned in a hospital is cologne and other fragrances. There are people who are seriously allergic to them. But these same smoking nazis look at you like you're crazy if you dare to mention that.
