Cain: Christie Too Liberal, Perry Insensitive [Paul Grumpy, Santorum stressed, Mitt good hair]
NRO - The Corner ^ | October 2, 2011 | Katrina Trinko

Herman Cain said today that Chris Christie’s positions would “turn off a lot of conservatives.”

In response to questions from Fox News host Chris Wallace, who noted Christie had strayed from conservative orthodoxy on several issues, Cain said his potential rival was incapable of drawing support from “a lot of conservatives” if he chose to run.

“Most of the conservatives believe that we should enforce our borders, they do not believe people should be here without documentation, they do not believe global warming is a crisis or threat … as you go right down the line, he’s going to turn off a lot of conservatives with those positions,” Cain said of Christie.

Cain also criticized Rick Perry, when Wallace asked him for his reaction to a Washington Post story today about land leased by Perry and his family for hunting had had at one point a rock with “N[word]head” on it.

“For him to leave it there as long as he did before I hear that they finally painted over it is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country,” Cain said.

Perry communications director Ray Sullivan responded to Cain’s remarks in a statement issued this morning. “Mr. Cain is wrong about the Perry family’s quick action to eliminate the word on the rock,” Sullivan said, “but is right the word written by others long ago is insensitive and offensive. That is why the Perrys took quick action to cover and obscure it.”

Asked about his remarks that two-thirds of African-Americans are brainwashed, Cain pointed to his personal experience.

“Some black people that I run into, not all … they won’t even take my 9-9-9 brochure because I’m that conservative, that Republican,” he said. Pushing back against the argument that his brainwashing remark was “insensitive,” Cain retorted that President Obama’s “scolding” of the Congressional Black Caucus last month was more offensive.

Talking briefly about some of his GOP rivals, Cain called Ron Paul a “grumpy, old man” and noted that in the debates, Santorum often had a “stressful look.” He said Mitt Romney had “good hair,” but also took a jab at Romney’s business experience. “His business experience is in Wall Street, my business experience has been Main Street,” Cain remarked.

In the interview Cain states: "[Most] Conservatives don't believe global warming is a crisis or a threat. Yes it might be a little bit out there but they don't see it as a crisis or a threat." [starting at 2:40]

Cain on ABC Sunday:...."I know you won't say the word Christiane, so I'll say it for you"..........

Video starts at 2:26

Al Sharpton, Herman Cain join attacks on Rick Perry over slur

“......But the attacks are set to continue, with the Rev. Al Sharpton telling POLITICO he plans to be “all over” the story on his MSNBC show on Monday afternoon.

“At worst, he either thought it was something he could identify with and even have some bit of irony,” Sharpton said. “At best, he’s insensitive. How can someone who would seek the highest office in the land be so insensitive to the implications of that name?”

Sharpton predicted the issue will harm Perry among Republicans.

“Even though he’s running in a party whose primary [does] not have a substantial African-American vote, the average American does not want to be identified to such racial insensitivity,” Sharpton said. “People say, ‘I don’t want to be identified with something this blatant.’”

I heard that there has been some flap over Cain and comments made about the “gay soldier question.” I must have missed the threads/articles, can anyone direct me to what that is all about. I like Cain, and am curious why people are suddenly saying “he’s out” for.

Cain was asked on ABC about the crowd at the debate booing the gay soldier.

Cain defended the audience saying they were booing the repeal of DADT, not the soldier personally.

When pressed about crowd reaction, he said it is not the candidates but the moderators’ role to deal with crowd outbursts.

When pressed further, he said if people were going to misinterpret that to mean they were booing the soldier personally and not the policy, then perhaps it could have been appropriate to make a comment to the crowd.

In other words, a bunch of nothing.

Cain had two interviews.

Here is the link to the interview with Christiane Amapour.
http://www.breitbart.tv/cain-calls-perry-hunting-camp-former-name-racially-insensitive/

Here is the link to the interview with Chris Wallace:http://video.foxnews.com/

Here is the link to the original Washington Post article:http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/rick-perry-familys-hunting-camp-still-known-to-many-by-old-racially-charged-name/2011/10/01/gIQAOhY5DL_story.html

If one reads the article and listens to both interviews, one can reasonably conclude that Cain was aware of the article and choose to ignore Perry’s statements within the article.

To me that was race baiting and I find it offensive.

Apparently, Bozo said that the republican candidates should have spoken out against the people who booed the gay "soldier". Cain apologized to Bozo for it. This pi**ed a lot of people(conservatives)off. Plus he supposedly(didn't see the interview so can't say first hand)called Rick Perry for leasing a hunting camp that had the name niggerhead painted on a rock when his father first leased it 30 years ago. According to reliable sources Perry's father painted over the rock and then later turned it over.

Now, they(the left and the GOP elite) are trying to say Perry left the rock with the name showing on it(a lie but the left doesn't care)and Cain was questioned about it. Instead of saying he didn't know that much about it, he said several things that also pi**ed conservatives off. I am going to have to view the interview myself(unless some kind soul will post a transcript of the interview)to determine exactly what Cain said.

“...Yes it might be a little bit out there....”

Some people believe that if there a little bit of global warming out there, whether man made or not, its not a crisis.

Cain doesn’t think global warming is a crisis that can only be solved by growing government and raising taxes. Do you have a problem with this?

No doubt you are offended at Perry’s race-baiting when he called those who disagree with him on the illegals policy racists who “don’t like the sound of their last names.”

Because the guy has no clue about anything IMPORTANT like foreign policy, his 999 which will increase taxes and so much more when it comes to governing. He has a good business background but that’s it so let him talk a lot and you will see A LOT more gaffes...you ain’t seen nothing yet. He is soooo not ready to be president. Not at all. He did not do his homework yet.

He said that in retrospect, after hearing all the criticism about the candidates’ silence when the debate audience booed the gay soldier who was “serving his country in Iraq,” maybe he should have spoken up against the booing.

I would leave it there, but I think the booing was more directed against the moderators for setting the candidates up that way. I could be wrong, but I don’t recall anyone asking someone from the audience WHY they booed. They just assumed it was because the soldier was gay...because that is the way THEY think. Like when Perry defended the death penalty.

When asked last week, Perry said the word on the rock is an “offensive name that has no place in the modern world.”

Im tired as a white male of being the most discriminated against person in the US, when we built are formed this nation. They are double standards for everyone except us and alot more people like me are sick of it. Tired of the race card, tired of welfare leeches, and tired of handouts. This nation has been ruined by cultural marxism. No, I say what I feel from now on.

Electability and the Republican Field [MSM carpet-bombing Rick Perry] ……………….”Or...is it not rather just slightly more likely that the MSM would try to kill off whom they fear? Has a negative word been uttered by the MSM in recent weeks about Mitt Romney? Think long and hard about what that benevolent silence might mean.”…………….

Thank you all for your informative replies, and for the links. I had merely heard that he “said he should have apologized to the soldier” which is a lot different from what appears to be the case. I don’t think of Cain as the cower in the corner type, like when asked about the “muslim uin his cabinet.” He was reported to have been apologizing all over the place, and I was starting to believe it, until he said on national television “I will NOT apologize for what I said, but apologized if people didn’t understand what I said, and I will say it again, loud and clear!” (on the day that he announced). I think the media is trying to portray him to be exactly what Obama is: the apologizer in chief (yet they have no problem with Obama doing just that the entire first year he was in office).

Thanks again, I’m off to read the article.
