No, your tax dollars don’t pay for it. But nobody really cares to understand how the PO normally funds itself. In the surplus years, where does the postal money go? Ask congress. They’re the ones who spent it all.
Cork boards and refrigerators??? PA..lease!
Mail has never been stolen, lost, or mis-delivered?
It’s never fallen on the floor, been stomped on and torn up, then repackaged and delivered months later?
Employees have never been nabbed for stealing foodstamps when they used to be sent in the mail? How about cash monies or social security checks? They’ve never been stolen?
They’ve never tossed packages around like basketballs, or bounced on the floor to see if they’d break?
Employees have never been accused of theft, then fired found innocent and not compensated?
People have never pulled old msgs off the corkboard thinking it was ok to throw it away, and it wasn’t?
People with similar names in same towns have never suffered mail mix ups with the recipients of the wrong mail not returning the wrong mail while the other individuals suffered loss as a result of the mix ups?
Parcel Post and Fedex type companies were developed for a reason, and it wasn’t because the PO was doing a wonderful job.
First, they begged for money because mail was increasing, now they beg for money because mail is decreasing! Can they not make up their minds?
We need post offices, no doubt. But they really need to pull their inefficiencies out from under where the sun doesn’t shine.
You’re right that it hasn’t been funded by tax dollars since the 1980’s.
But how DOES the PO ‘fund’ itself when it’s $50+ billion in the red due to the unions and their pre-paid healthcare (slush) fund? How can a business have been running in the red for 25+ years?
Some refrigerators can be hacked. Some now come equipped with built-in internet access and screens. I guess I can’t expect people working in an outdated industry to know that fact, though.
Agreed.
And I have been an avid computer user since 1982.
I use mail everyday.
I pay bills, write letters, send condolence cards. get catalogs and a number of perodicals.
the computer, it is alright in its place, but it is a boring one diminsional way to communicate. I like lots of different ways to communicate.
Bump to steal when I get home from work.
