Several of Barack Obama's top campaign supporters went from soliciting political contributions to working from within the Energy Department as it showered billions in taxpayer-backed stimulus money on alternative energy firms, ABC News and iWatch News have learned.
One of them was Steven J. Spinner, a high-tech consultant and energy investor who raised at least $500,000 for the candidate. He became one of Energy Secretary Steven Chu's key loan program advisors while his wife's law firm represented a number of companies that had applied for loans.
Recovery Act records show Allison Spinner's law firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, received $2.4 million in federal funds for legal fees related to the $535 million Energy Department loan guarantee to Solyndra, a solar company whose financial meltdown has prompted multiple investigations. She pledged to take no portion of the money and did not work on the loan applications.
As House Republicans step up their probe of the Obama administration's green-energy loan program in the wake of Solyndra's bankruptcy, a key focus -- and open question -- is whether the president's political supporters had any hand in influencing which companies received the taxpayer support.

Even ABC is having a hard time ignoring the corruption of this administration.
GREENSCAM. I think that would be the best nickname to use for this scandal. Not “SolydraGate”, because this goes way beyond Solyndra.
We have multiple “green” companies with multiple “green” investors who were Obama donors getting loans funneled to them from multiple White House DOE appointees (who were also former Obama fundraisers), with the money coming from the Stimulus slush fund package put together by Nancy Pelosi — whose brother-in-law also just happened to get a big DOE alternative energy loan!
Think about it. Whitewater is small potatoes compared to this. The Congressional Post Office scandal of the early ‘90’s pales in comparison. Greenscam is the real deal. A full frontal, super-sized, mega-money political scandal of almost Biblical proportions.
Did they actually think that a Chicago thug would do anything except move his thugocracy to the White House?
It’s almost as if lobbyists and campaign donors expect something in return for their money. Good thing these bribes are protected as free speech.
Rush’s take on this was interesting. He claims this is a “shot across the bow” by the left-wing media trying to warn Obama not to go to the middle, but to stay hard left. They think he can win being a Marxist.
Now it comes out that not only are Pelosi and possibly Reid
tangled up in the Solar Reserve loan guarantee,we now learn that George Kaiser [Solyndra fame] is also neck deep in this useless waste of taxpayer bucks. This makes Watergate look tame in comparison.
Greengate, Envirogate.
