The Department of Energy is set on Thursday to announce whether nine federal loan guarantees amounting to $6.5 billion for green energy projects will get final approval.

The number of full-time, permanent jobs they would create? According to the DOE's own figures, a grand total of 283. That is nearly $23 million per job.

It's also a drop in the bucket toward the five million green jobs President Obama promised as a candidate in 2008.

This is what happens when government paper pushers are allowed to attempt guidance of an economy. Politics set their direction, lobbying and graft set the timetable. It is almost by chance that citizens/voters find out about this type of foolishness. Comment was made to the effect that good programs would attract private investment - so true. The market and investors actually do due diligence with an eye toward ROI - clearly something government employees do not do. Government has no real skin in the game - no penalty for failure - just a mandate to spend their budget or lose it next go around.
And many of our representatives are too busy posturing for reelection to bother educating themselves about gov’t waste. Federal government is just way out of control and even our elected representatives are woefully unaware, uninformed, and/or unconcerned about “a million here or there”.

Bobo is so Carter, it's telling that the difference is, back then Executive Departments couldn't fund much other than their own offices. Now they guarantee loans -- it's wrong, and it's unconstitutional. Congress needs to grab that authority back.

So-called “green” energy is nothing more than a good ol’ fashioned vote-buying scheme. The only thing green about “green” energy is the color of all the deficit spending bucks being printed to buy votes with.

Windmills and solar panels to generate power in this country instead of coal-fired plants makes no more more economic sense than a Unicorn ranch or a rainbow factory. Never has been and never will be, no matter how much “free” taxpayer money is loaded into dump trucks and backed up and dumped in front of the doors of 0bama’s crooked crony capitalist friends.
