ATF Chief Counsel’s office warned management of Gun Rights Examiner column(gunwalker)

Gun Rights Examiner has obtained a copy of a January 20, 2011 email from Barry Orlow, Associate Chief Counsel (Field Operations and Information) for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, calling top management’s attention to a January 19 column posted by this columnist, “Open Letter to Senate Judiciary Committee staff on 'Project Gunwalker'.”

Written to inform the committee of whistleblower allegations and to arrange for their protection, the ultimate goal of the open letter was to prompt a full congressional investigation.

Orlow was named by House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa in July for sending intimidating warning letters to witnesses about what they could not talk about, with the result that “at least one witness wanted to back out of testifying to his committee after receiving the letter.”

His January email (see column sidebar photo) was addressed to ATF Deputy Director William Hoover, Assistant Director in Charge of Field Operations Mark Chait, and Deputy Assistant Director of Field Operations William McMahon, and copied to ATF Chief Counsel Steve R. Rubenstein, as well as other Bureau attorneys.

Rubenstein was recently identified in another Sipsey Street Irregulars/Gun Rights Examiner exclusive advising then-ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson that whistleblower allegations posted on the CleanUpATF website would be subject to repercussions under authority of ATF Orders and Standards of Conduct, resulting in Melson indicating he would turn the information over to Internal Affairs for investigation.

In his email, Orlow wrote:

Every time I speak -tongue in cheek - My tongue lolls over my eyeteeth and I can’t see what I’m saying. That being said IMO
Every time I hung out with the bad boys as a kid —I noticed they were like Meth freaks and allways very interested in what the cops was up to. Same same the criminal mind can be profiled and makes no difference if they wear suits and work for the Fed or if they have a real job.

I almost (but don’t) feel sorry for these criminals.

They never expected Agent Terry to be murdered with one of their weapons.....CORRECTION: they thought they could cover-up the fact that it was one of their weapons that was used to murder Agent Terry.

Once David Codrea started writing about Fast & Furious, these criminals had to look over their shoulder every day....every shooting was another potential firearm that was linked back to them.

The shooting of Congresswoman Giffords in Tuscon set off alarm bells in Washington because they thought the pistol used by Jared Loughner was one of theirs.

I think that is why they tried to divert attention with the “Blame the Tea Party -— Blame Palin” line.....it started from the White House.

These people are in full-panic mode.

I am willing to bet that we still do not know the full extent of the malfeasance.

Still waiting to hear if the weapons used and found in the Carson City shootings of the National Guardsmen were *walked* weapons. The shooter was a Mexican national with an American passport who had a brand new AK, another weapon I can’t think of right now, and ammo.

I hope Issa or someone is recording serial numbers. I would not be surprised if the BATFE continues the coverup by misreporting the serial numbers on weapons found at crime scenes.

Hey, so did I. That’s the cool thing about digital media — you can ‘steal’ it from me and I still have it. $:-)
