I live in S.E. Michigan and last Nov. our then "Elected" county sheriff - Mark Hackel - decided to run for a new office in our Macomb county which was "County Commissioner". He of course got elected and then subsequently "retired" from the sheriff's dept. and started drawing his $78,000 annual pension plus a separation pay which totaled approx. $400,000.......

His Macomb county commissioner position now nets him about $128,000 per year.........

So there you have it, his county paid pension of $78K and his county paid salary of $128K..........

WHY are your commissioners paid so much??? That’s absolutely mental. Ingham County seats net a max of $16,832/annum plus a whopping per diem of $60. And this county is pretty blue, home to Lansing/East Lansing.
