Wisconsin orders high school to change Indians nickname

Wisconsin education officials have ordered a high school to change its sports nickname from the Indians.
An alumnus of Berlin High School north of Milwaukee complained to the state Department of Public Instruction about the use of the nickname. That opened the door to the state ordering the school to change it.

If I were an Indian, I would be pissed.
The PC apparatchiks are now saying that Indians are no longer admirable for their tenacity, fighting spirit, ingenuity - which is what one wants when one chooses a team name, isn’t it? (not counting the idiots at UC Santa Cruz....)

I had to laugh, last year when my son was looking at colleges one school he considered was Carnegie Mellon.
I thought it was a very impressive school, but their mascot is hilarious. Being strongly influenced by Scottish heritage, their mascot is a piece of tartan fabric. They're the "Tartans."

Kind of reminds me of the ‘idiotic’ PETA group demanding Fishkill NY change its name to anything other than a name that promotes the killing of fish.
Which may (or may not) be commendable, but for the Dutch that settled there, ‘Kill’ meant body of water, not slay, so, in essence, the PETA PFOOLS are against ‘honoring’ a place that keeps fish alive.
