McGinniss Book About Palin: Yet Another Attack on America
The American Thinker ^ | 9/17/2011 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 09/17/2011 8:30:43 AM PDT by Lakeshark

The Joe McGinniss Sarah Palin book The Rogue is the left's latest hate letter to God-fearing patriotic Americans. Make no mistake about it, folks. The McGinniss attack along with the other numerous attacks on Sarah Palin are really about attacking you -- mainstream Americans with traditional values.

Since her extraordinary, upbeat VP nominee acceptance speech in 2008, I have wondered. What did Palin specifically say to prompt such immediate visceral hatred from the left? I have come to realize the answer is her celebration of God, family, and country.

How dare Palin praise traditional marriage, motherhood, Christianity, and American exceptionalism, all of which are anathema to the left? Thus, the left's hatred of Palin is really hatred of mainstream America -- particularly Tea Party patriots.

That is it in a nutshell and explains why the left so desperately seeks to destroy Palin. They hate America and all who love our extraordinary country.
**snip**

Meanwhile, if Palin throws her hat into the presidential ring, I boldly predict that she will win, defeating your socialist/progressive "Mister-I-Vow-to-Fundamentally-Transform-America," Barack Hussein Obama, in a landslide.

That is, in my opinion, only one third of the equation. Rick Santorum does not get the same kind of vitriol, though he is just as pro God, family and country. I would add two more elements:

1)She breaks the meme of the Republican Party being the party of aristocratic (Bushes) and fuddy-duddy (Dole/McCain) white guys. (This same thinking explains why Janice Rogers Brown had a harder time than John Roberts.)

2) She stays on offense, and has made it clear that she is not interested in splitting the difference, but rather with cleaning things up, with no winks to how things get done in Washington, or in the media. I think the line that gets them most riled was from her VP speech at the convention

Here's a little newsflash for those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country.

When the Washington hive of Establishment pols, MSM and well-heeled lobbyists heard that, I believe they reacted like the Five Family heads in NYC would if they heard of new muscle that wouldn't respect the old boundaries came into town. They would put aside their differences, band together and destroy the upstart.

Remember Sarah Palin's speech back on September 3, 2011 when she denounced crony capitalism (which some claim is just a "nice" name for Fascism)? It appears that the Solyndra collapse and the budding scandal with LightSquared are PERFECT examples of what she denounces.

As just a Senator, he was lower profile than Palin but Santorum has seen his surname appropriated as a repulsive slang term by homosexual activists. It's among the top google hits if you search his name.

I agree so much with your whole post. What's got me to wondering is how many posting against Palin here on FR are themselves, a part of that establishment? Otherwise, why can they not see what an opportunity we have in this election? Sarah Palin + the tea party movement could complete what we started in 2010. The GOP should not be above a thorough vetting with the dead wood cast aside, either.

This is a good question. However, since I know some people who very much NOT establishment but also aren't thrilled with Palin, I suspect the vast majority of these Freepers are acting in good faith.

One of the funny things is that on paper, Palin isn't even the most conservative candidate, if you simply do a checklist approach. In some areas she is not as conservative as I'd like, but I support her primarily because of her demeanor. Others can take it as grandstanding or disingenuousness. To try to pull this off, you need a pretty yough and healthy ego, and the line between same and narcissism is very thin.

Some of the people I know are not comfortable with a mother with young children in the office, for fear of her children. Calling them neanderthal or sexist will only convince them they are right, and sounds too much like too hastily slung leftist epithets.

Others see a certain type of seriousness, no, make that graveness, as necessary to the job. The same sprite-like quality that enables Palin to dust herself off and move forward after an ordinarily withering barrage is taken by some as flip. You can have that concern without being part of the Establishment.

I think Sarah P. herself has the right approach. When she says the more the merrier, I don't think it means that she really relishes Bachmann and Perry taking votes that might largely be Palin votes. I think she is trying to see the primary process for what it is. If she can't be the anti-Establishment candidate that conservatives/tea partiers rally around by SC, someone else will have to carry that mantle. Let's take a likely scenario, Palin finishes strong in Iowa as Bachmann fades. Perry wins NH and SC. Even if Palin doesn't win, her numbers won't go for nothing. She gets to play the 1976 Ronald Reagan to Perry's Jerry Ford. She can, even in losing the nomination, serve as a check on Perry. If Palin wins, all the better, as she has left plenty of room to be conciliatory with a man who is closer to her positions on paper than Ford was to Reagan.

If this were 1996 or 1988, I might have given Santoroum more support until he failed, just as I supported Thompson and Kemp when they ran. This election calls for a game-changer. Palin is that. She forces mistakes. She forces opponents to over-pursue. She also has the endgame in mind (by my reckoning) without revealing her game plan. She is also a natural executive.

I can only laugh when I see attacks by old Dole and GWHB staffers listing all the things they would do that she hasn't done. It reminds me of Frank Church and Jerry Brown thinking they could have a serious crack at the nomination getting in during the primaries because you could have done that in the 50's or early '60's. (I am convinced if Brown was in before Iowa, he would have won both the nomination and the presidency.)

Let the people post against Palin. Sometimes they make good points. Sometimes they take to gentle correction. Last time around, some good people supported Romney. This time, now that he's flipped to try to be the one King RINO against a herd of seeming conservatives, he has flipped one time too many.

If Palin wins, I want the Perry, Bachmann and Santorum supporters with me. Mrs. Cincinnatus and I are on the same page way too often to let a political rift develop. If Perry wins, I will hope that his political instincts, backed by watchful tea partiers, will keep him from being GHWB II. He is making a play for tea party supporters, and even if he is not a true principled conservative in his heart, he might at least keep his stated positions in mind. He has shown, like any good Texas Hold'em player, that there are some hands on which you must fold. Both he and Palin are well suited in different ways to face the Dem/Obama/Ayers/Soros slime machine.
