Sobering to remember that during her short life of 64 years; Jacqueline Kennedy suffered one still-born and one child who lived only 3 days. Was widowed at 34 and again at 46. She also suffered through the death of Robert Kennedy and the loss of Alexander Onassis.

Such turbulent decades for an ‘educated’, but naive innocent. At least she was spared the death of John Jr.

I was not particularly interested in her fashion sense or the fawning adoration by the media - but she seems to have endured unimaginable challenges and adversity with grace and dignified silence. Very rare qualities.

Naive? I think that there are better words to describe a woman who sold her position in history and global elite society to a billionaire.

Jackie was very smart and somewhat witty, and I've gotten a kick out of some of her remarks and some of the tales about her. On the other hand, much of her wit seems to be at someone else's expense. (The secret of Lucille Ball's enduring loveability is that hers wasn't.)

She knew what was on the tapes. If she didn't mean what she had said or changed her mind, she had plenty of time to correct her remarks herself.

I do not know why Jackie made the tapes in the first place or why Caroline released them--but one thing's certain: they'll make lots of money.

I agree with you, and I'm sure she suspected her husband of infidelities, but she would have had no way of knowing the explicit details. It all started unraveling years later with Judith Campbell Exner, JFK's Mafia girlfriend...and other books.

lol.

I don’t think she was innocent. Didn’t she admit to cheating on him too?

I didn't know there was a stillborn child, too. I agree with you about being spared herr son's death and your other comments; she went through a lot. A bullet could have hit her that day, and she seemed impervious to her own safety.

Her knowledge of history of the furnishings and rooms of the White House (the redecorating was more returning it to what it had been under former presidents) was really impressive. She rattled off names, facts, and dates without missing a beat. I think she had a passion for history and books.

I came to like and admire her and the news and photos of the children, especially Caroline and her pony, Macaroni.

He could have been rendered practically impotent by his back, health and med problems, haven't read anything to that effect and pretty personal but it happens. So I don't know if all the tales with the exception of the Swedish woman of womanizing were true or not, even Marilyn. I can't remember what was proven and don't like to repeat the gossip and speculations, came to believe he did have affairs.

Jackie was a good mother, and whatever JFK was or wasn't, he was an extremely affectionate and playful father. The bathtub toys may have been for John John. From what I've read about what she divulged, I don't really think any the less of her for it.
