LA Schools To Teach LGBT Curriculum In Anti-Bullying Effort

Students in the Los Angeles Unified school district may soon be taught “age-appropriate” curriculum promoting positive images of homosexuals and their contributions to society.

The resolution approved on Tuesday directs officials to come up with an implementation plan within 90 days, the Associated Press reported.

One mom present at the school board meeting recalled the reaction her son Elliot received at school when he openly declared himself to be homosexual at age 13 in front of hundreds of classmates.

Many, many, many years ago, I went to school in L.A. We had bullies and we handled them ourselves. We didn’t need the school, parents or the state to get involved. The bully went away. I imagine that if we did this today, we are the ones that would get in trouble. We are teaching our young boys to be young girls. Some times I think the girls are tougher than the boys. Something to be proud of I guess.

I can't help thinking that a 13-year-old boy who tells a crowd of hundreds of other students that he's sexually aroused by other boys, has been set up by some adult. Somebody told him it would be "courageous" or admirable for him to do so. Otherwise, why would he want to invite sexual attention on such a large scale (both positive and negative)?

But truly, I don't know. Never having been an adolescent male, I can't even imagine the motivatation. Anybody else have an opinion here?
