Angered by the “Let Him Die” chant at the Tea Party debate Monday evening, Keith and former congressman Alan Grayson discuss the appropriate response to this outrage. Grayson questions the Tea Party’s Christian ideology, saying, “They glorify and sanctify other people’s pain.”

I didn't hear a "let him die" chant. I heard a couple of isolated shouts which Ron Paul disavowed. The cheers were for personal responsibilty, not cold heartedness. But Mr. Grayson and Mr. Olbermann see it differently...

If the Christian religion may not act to worship in the public square, then a Christian ethos of caring for a fellow man,has no place in policy making, or in guilt tripping Christian citizens to part with their wealth.

I watched the entire debate and the only time I turned away was during this moment (typical!). What exactly happened?

I’m amused that the sensitive Alan Grayson is all worked up.

Wolf Blitzer gave Ron Paul a "gotcha" type hypothetical about a 30 year old uninsured man who fell in a coma. When Mr. Blitzer posed a follow up about letting the man die, a couple of voices in the crowd yelled "yeah". Rep. Paul then said no to that, and elaborated more on the combination of personal responsibility and private charity and maintained that government medical policies actually work to make it harder for Americans to take care of their health burdens.

I can respect people for disagreeing with Ron Paul and the crowd on the policy, but I think Grayson and Olbermann turned this into something it was not. I think the broad brush of misrepresentation was put to heavy use here.

There was no chant.

Wolf asked a question to Ron Paul about ... what if a guy who made a good living just decided not to get health care and then he got sick.

The operative thing in the question was ... he was making a good living and he CHOSE not to have health care.

So...there was some answer by Paul about personal responsibility ... then more probing by Wolf asking if we should “let him die” ... a COUPLE of people in the audience seemed to say, “Yeah.”

There was no chant to let a guy die.

But the ORIGINAL question Wolf asked was a good one. The guy, even though he made a good living, DECIDED not to have health care.... then got sick.

Most likely Paul supporters. Quite honestly, Ron Paul and his supporters make us all look bad. I really hope he just leaves the Republican party and runs as a Libertarian.

I don't think Paul handled the answer very well. First it was "free choice" then it was "can't let him die". It was one of those questions asked only to make the candidates uncomfortable.

Ugh two irrelevant guys bantering, but did you hear Grayson talk about being on the front of the plane.... but his bag was in the back of the plane....and some guy brought it up to him and exhibited human kindness....???

And the tea party are devil worshipers....and then I really couldn’t take any more.

Most likely a Paul supporter? Evidence? Oh....you don't have any? Nice smear there. While I don't know the identity of the shouter, IMHO, it could just as likely be one of the bloodthirsty warmongers in the audience.....then again we can never know for sure.

BTW, if Paul does run as a Libertarian next year many of the same Paul haters will condemn him angrily as a "spoiler" and "another Ross Perot."

The question was all over the place. I would have brought Wolf back to the original question and how he phrased it.

The guy MADE a good living and chose not to have insurance.

I would have said, “that guy was stupid... we need to encourage everyone to have health insurance if they make a good living....”

Obviously, no ... we won’t let him die. But he was stupid.

It could have been a conservative bringing him the bag. Individuals vary in both groups, but I would feel more confident of receiving acts of personal kindness from a conservative than a leftist.

There was no chant. Grayson’s a liar.

There were, maybe, two people shouting, and I doubt it was for people dying. If it was, I’d tag the LaRouchies or MoveOn disrupters.
