As the team on Gov. Pawlentys now concluded presidential campaign works to recoup a campaign debt of some half-million dollars, their fingers have begun pointing toward the campaigns manager, Nick Ayers, as the person to blame for the decisions that put the campaign into debt and, by many accounts, as simply an unpleasant human being to work with.
I would blame him 100 percent for racking up the debt, said one senior staff member of the Pawlenty campaign.
Ayers declined to weigh in on that statement, or any of the others made in this story.
I believe a campaign manager before, during, and after a campaign should accept responsibility and keep their mouth closed, Ayers emailed. So while there are always two sides to a story, mine wont be one of them.

Wasn’t Ayers the guy who ran the National Governors Association efforts in 2010? If so, he was lauded there and had a tremendous performance. Not sure if I have the right guy. I do remember when he signed on with T-Paw, and it was considered a coup.
Unscrupulous Pawlenty and his overpaid staff trying to shift the blame to others.
The buck stops with TPaw.
I don’t know why anyone is surprised by any of this stuff. I really don’t.
I’ve seen guys like him 100 times over. Egos so out of proportion to their stature it’s almost comical. Not limited to any particular age or background either. Some people can’t handle the least bit if power that they are given.
That's him, from 2007-2011. He was considered a candidate for RNC chair but declined to run.
