I live in an area that is host to dozens of expats from dozens of foreign countries, and it is the Brits that consistently offer up the most vehement & condescending criticism of the US. They seem to not feel the need to hold back at all.

While stationed in Iraq along with multi-national special operations forces, the Brits always seemed to 'disapprove' of our (US) rather boisterous humor. A comment came over from the Brits; "Bloody Colonist" to which I relied; "Sore Losers". The other Brits sitting around the one who made the first comment bust up laughing and told him; "The Yank's got you there!" In the grand scheme of things, it was in pretty poor taste to make any degrading comment to someone who's going to have your back when things go terribly wrong.

The Torygraph really loves these handwringing pieces. You want RINO (technically CINO I guess) media - you got a prime example right here.

Yep - you got the entitled mindset crowd (seemingly most of them now-a-days) who think everything is America’s fault for being somehow Imperialistic and who feel phyically threatened by the USA. Bunch of useless pansies, but they were born here, got brainwashed here, and think they got a say in things. Sorry for that - we usually just ignore them in the hope they’ll go and jump on some other bandwagon.

The vast majority of Brits respect the USA and are as grateful for their actions and service and simply having our backs as the majority of Americans are for us doing the same for them. Unfortunately, the ones who don’t tend to be the loudmouths.

/teasing mode on:

There have been glitches over the years between us, don’t get me wrong, and each country can easily point out a dozen examples.
The worst aspect, back in the 80’s was the incessant fundraising for the IRA in New York, which translated to bombs in pubs and City buildings. That seems to have died a death now - thankfully. Of course, invading a British protectorate was not exactly popular, nor was the deafening silence and inaction over the Falklands War.
Even fairly recently, the missile defence system was greeted with horror here, thanks to it’s targetting range. Shooting down incoming missiles 3000 miles away is good for the USA, of course, but for us, who happen to be 3000 miles away or so, is somewhat less appealing to have chunks of missiles randomly landing on our heads!

/teasing mode off

We got your back. You got ours. That is the only thing that matters. Every country has it’s idiots. Treat them with the contempt they deserve.

In my experience, many Americans since 2001 see any criticism/critique of the US as ‘anti-americanism’. There is a vast difference between making a legitimate and polite point about the US and being patronising and/or anti-american.

For example, anyone who reads my posts here knows how PRO-American I am, yet I have been accused of being antiamerican and a patronising limey here and on RightNation because I simply didnt agree with a point made in s discussion.
