Absolutely.

China leverages North Korea against us, and plays a “fake” role as arbitrator between us and them, where they in reality simply carve out some advantage for themselves but have no genuine interests.

For China, North Korea is a giant crow bar.

Maybe we just wanted them to think that our planes couldn’t operate without GPS.

You will see little press coverage because no US politician will mention it.

There is a deliberate attempt at downplay of the threat as well as N. Korea’s actions because in the US we are now internally focused (economy) and retreat mode (disengage). Recent events like artillery fire on South Korea, torpedo attacks on ships... none of that gets a real reaction out of us. (ignore and minimize has been our MO)

Must not have been piloted by Lt. Shane Osborn, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for “heroism and extraordinary achievement” and hand-delivering a loaded EP-3 to the Chicoms.

What’s your beef with Lt Osborn? Or is it our military in general?

Jamming works AWESOME when no one is shooting back. In the event of a real war big shooty things will be flying back and forth killing people and breaking stuff. I’ve been out of it for a while; I am willing to bet that we have something in our bag of tricks to deal with this in the event of a real war. How much of an “emergency” is it when the emmitting source goes up in a great big fireball?

The Chinese and Russian know what happened to Iraqi radar operators and EW folks when they turned their gear on. I am sure they are working to find a way around it, just as we are coming up with ways to ruin the bad guy’s days in more imaginative and deadly ways.

This is way too technical. Can you break it down a little for us laymen?

It depends. Emitting source can be modified microwave oven. Already tried and it works.

$75 decoy vs. $750,000 missile.

SOP, for us as well as them. Every move makes us smarter too. Let’s not pretend the Reds are that good.

Hopefully nokor jamming won’t interfere with civil aviation like when Soviet’s trying to catch a RC-135 misrouted KAL 007 towards Sakhalin Island.

Bingo, my thought exactly. The electronic attack didn’t come close to working, but Ronery Reader and his big brothers in Beijing think it did. Not a bad place to be.

I’d call that an act of war."

I would too, but Zero would want to let NATO or the UN handle it.

If the North Koreans are trying to eat crow, they won't like the taste.

These people don't have a clue what they are up against.

Old Crow Ping

Please let me know if you want on or off the Old Crow ping list.

Yes there's LORAN, the GPS back up but kinda wonder if Hussein already shut it down.  Actually this worse case scenario is no secret.  Read [click here]...
