Ever a magnet for controversy, Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann is once again the subject of a vicious rumor. A doctored video surfaced this week that appears to show Bachmann asking an audience, Who likes white people?
Accusations of racism followed, as blogs and websites including Wonkette used the video as evidence of Bachmanns supposedly extreme views.
Alice Stewart, a spokesperson for Bachmanns presidential campaign, explained to The Daily Caller: She said, Who likes wet people? It was pouring down rain that night.

they treat palin and bachmann poorly because they are Christian women.
I like Bachmann but with the obvious dual standard treatment of Bachmann/Palin to Perry/Romney it’s obivious who the media is wanting to be the GOP Nominee....
They treat them poorly because they are Republican women.
I expect MSNBC to pick this vidio up and include it in the breaking news broadcast. Seems they have no problem doctoring up stories and this one should fit right in.
In before the obligatory, “I have supported Bachmann for years, and now she pulls this. I can’t support her now.” post. (c)
They treat them poorly because they are Republicans.
The men get this treatment too.
Heh. With my bad ears I thought she said “Who likes wet backs?”
The men get this treatment too.
Yeah, but not as much. Santorum, for example, has made quite a few bloopers in this campaign, and I don't remember the media criticizing any of those. I remember them jumping on every little thing Bachmann or Palin has said, however. The media has it in its head that men are allowed to be Republican, but minorities and women are to be savaged for their decision.
One thing I noticed when seeing the video was how fantastic she looked. Not that anybody asked but seeing that video made me rethink Michele. We’ve got some great contenders on our side for 2012, I’m heartened.
Palin, Perry, Bachmann.
Those seem like reasoned points, so I’ll give you that round. ;^)
Yep. And it isn’t just the fact that those in the media attack the Republican women more, it’s that they’re substantially more vicious and personal in their attacks. When Rick Perry says something stupid, or contradicts himself, the media doesn’t really seem to make it personal. I think the worst thing they’ve said about him was to compare him to President Bush. When it comes to Palin and Bachmann, however, the media really seems to love getting personal. They’ll try to smear Bachmann (who I don’t even support, by the way) with some petty crap while at the same time ignoring the fact that Mitt Romney has basically flip-flopped on every single important policy issue of the last 30 years. There’s no race on the Democratic side, so the media has no excuse for not covering Romney’s repeated distortions and lies. I feel like the media is trying to pick our candidates again. I think the media still wants Romney, because they’d probably agree with a lot of what he’d do as president if elected. They’ll settle for Perry, however, either because his policy positions aren’t that conservative or because they think Obama can beat him in the general.
I don’t take exception to anything you said there.
I do think that the women get more pointed criticisms.
Bachmann is my early favorite, so I try not to get too touchy when it comes to Leftists being Leftists. That’s what they do, and it shouldn’t surprise us when they do it.
The idea you have to be an extreme Conservative to adhere to what you believe in, has always been a ridiculous premise to me.
If you’re a Conservative, your not an extreme Conservative. You’re just a Conservative.
Imagine them calling Obama an extreme Leftist
Uh-huh.. So when MSNBC doctored a comment Perry mde about “black clouds” and said he was making a racist statement about Obama...that never happened? When the establishment went ballistic implying he wanted to hang Bernanke...that never happened?
Know what I feel like? I feel like certain people want to pretend their candidates are pure, perfect and innocent victims while people doing better in the polls are only doing so because the media is giving them a free ride...even if it’s a lie.
Not to take this out on just you...several posters in here are being either willfully disingeuous or just blissfully ignorant about what other candidates they don’t care for are subject to.
Obama is an opportunist, first and foremost. Even if he secretly had Republican views, he’d have to know that his best chance to get elected president was as a Democrat. He’ll throw anyone under the bus to stay in power, and he will compromise every one of his political principles. Look how he caved on extending the Bush tax cuts, after swearing for years he’d never sign an extension of them. If repealing ObamaCare meant he’d get a second term, he’d sign onto it in a second, because that’s really all he cares about. He doesn’t care if he accomplishes anything. He pretends to care, because he knows that’s what his base wants to see.
They just can’t help themselves with the lies, can they?
You seriously think that the media have been as hard on Romney or Perry as they've been on Palin or Bachmann?
Oh c’mon...Ron Paul is even advertising for women who slept with Rick Perry...the slurs about Perry’s wife being unhappy are still pouring forth. And the democratic lies and propaganda are being put even here as the truth as the democrats can’t crank out the lies fast enough to make the many republicans happy to pick it up and spread it.
The MSM will stop at nothing to stop a GOP conservative from becoming the first Woman President. They would never do this to shrillary.
