Peddling Perry rumors on a national stage

Ray Sullivan called me last week. Sullivan, a longtime Rick Perry aide and now communications director for Perry's presidential campaign, has a problem. Sullivan's wife, Leslie, is a fundraiser for Mitt Romney. But that's not the problem Sullivan called me about.

Sullivan called about Robert Morrow. Morrow is a problem for Perry. And any problem for Perry is a problem for Sullivan. Morrow, from his Austin home, has become a key purveyor of nasty, unsubstantiated allegations about Perry's personal life. You may be aware of Morrow's recent full-page Austin Chronicle ad trolling for bad stuff about Perry.

"Here is what we are learning about Rick Perry," Morrow wrote in a recent late-night email listing unsubstantiated stuff about Perry and concluding with "I think it is just a matter of time before a credible source" comes forward to substantiate the rumors.

Even the NYT knows that this line of attack is twaddle. Texas blacks outperform blacks in all other states; hispanics do better than hispanics in most other states; whites and Asians perform at the same level seen nationally for their demographic groups. In the government school system, there are over 2 million hispanics, many of whom are illegals. In fact, we may have more hispanics alone than Illinois has students.

Despite all of this, Texas is about average on the NAEP, and manages it with less expenditure than states with better demographics and higher expenditures. Go look at the data for WV, for example, if you know how to find it.

If Perry has a fault in education policy, it is that he hasn’t done enough to defund government education. Texas needs a tax credit bill to kill government schools.

Even sites like this have Morrow's number:

Have You Been Screwed by Rick Perry?

...".....That sort of foolishness is brought to you courtesy of Robert Morrow, the Austinite who garnered national coverage last week with his full-page Chronicle ad requesting leads on the new presidential candidate's sex life. For the record, Morrow placed his ad (and alerted other publications) on his own; this news desk read it when our readers did. Morrow's a hard-right GOP activist (of the Ron Paul variety), and his obsessively sexual conspiracy theories are old hat around here. He first came to Austin's attention with a viciously gay-bashing attack on Glen Maxey, a strong supporter of former City Council candidate Margot Clarke in the 2005 election. Here's a representative sample of Morrow's more recent emails (emphases entirely his):

"There are a LOT of things that George Herbert Walker Bush does not want you to know about him and the disgraceful and often criminal way he has lived his sorry life.

"Some of his ugly behavior includes 1) his very likely ties to the MURDER of John F. Kennedy as a high ranking CIA officer in 1963 2) his gargantuan COCAINE SMUGGLING with Oliver North, Bill Clinton, Jeb Bush, the CIA in the 1980's 3) his use of CIA Pegasus ASSASSINS to scare Ross Perot [out] of the race (temporarily) in 1992. ... (Perot knew ALL about Bush's CIA drug smuggling.)" – Dec. 6, 2009

Morrow's ad caught the attention of Salon, whose Justin Elliott reported on it, as did Slate's David Weigel, although Weigel linked unwittingly to a video of an interview with an entirely different "Bob Morrow" from Maryland, who claimed to be a former CIA agent involved indirectly in the Kennedy assassination. It's likely that unremarkable coincidence is already woven into the baroque imaginings of assassination obsessives. ........"

Our similar conclusion must be right, why else would they pretend to be Palin supporters only to undermine her standing with their actions? The only logical answer is a real Palin supporter would not and logic further points to ronpaul nuts because they get instantly flamed they hide and do their dirty work trying to kill two birds with one stone, Perry and Palin.

I hope Palin decides to run, it would be an undefeatable team if they joined forces.

“Seventeen things critics are saying about Rick Perry” (and the truth)....http://peskytruth.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/rick-perrys-negatives/

This puts Perry’s record, which is very positive, in perspective. It also talks about the relative strength of the Texas governorship.

I like being a newbie if you are the best example of an oldie. I also like to brush you off.

———Circle K in college and I’m not even Catholic. ——

Leaving aside that Masons are men,.......

If you were a VP and think it was a Catholic organization you must not have attended any meetings. Circle K is Kiwanis and has nothing to do with the Roman Catholic Church.

It's obvious to me that E. Pluribus Unum was thinking about George H. W. Bush as the "cry to Daddy and have him fix it".

Doubt he'll have the guts to admit that but everybody has times when they mis-speak.

Nice try wolfcreek but he is a member of an elite paramilitary force "Eagle Scout" and I know for a fact he is in big with the American Legion, he's a lifetime member aaaaand he is also a member of the elite NRA, which is apparently into private ownership of guns. He also visited a Fudruckers where we all know you can build a burger.

Try again Perry bot.
