Locks superglued prior to protests of Governor Walker at local school

MILWAUKEE - Protesters crowded the street outside Messmer Preparatory School in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood as Governor Walker visited the school Friday to read to children.

The protests came just hours after someone vandalized the school ahead of the Governor's visit.

"Some of these folks super glued our front doors at the prep school," said Br. Bob Smith, OFM, the president of Messmer Catholic Schools, about the school on the corner of North Fratney and East Burleigh Streets.

He told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that a woman was walking in front of the school Thursday, asking people to protest.

According to Br. Smith, one protester said " 'Get ready for a riot,' because they were going to disrupt the visit."

Br. Smith said that, in his opinion, the Republican governor's visit to read to students there on Friday was not about political overtones connected to protests that have been happening all year in the state regarding the rollback of collective bargaining rights for many public workers.

"People ought to start acting like adults," said Br. Smith.

"You've got little kids who have no clue what you're even talking about, and you make something political when it isn't, that's just flat-out wrong."

Vandalism? These attacks and the threats are getting into the area of insurrection.

Ahhh...feel the sweet songs of peace, brotherhood and tolerance from the left. Bask in the warmth of their love and understanding. All together now...

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow-white turtle doves

Chorus:
I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company

Gov. Walker certainly brings out the very worst in these pieces of human debris...Just like the protestors that showed up when he addressed the Special Olympics.

Most people in Wisconsin are very law abiding. This will not help the Democrats at the polls.

I find it hard to worry about insurrections by an unpopular group of pampered, overweight, upper middle class low level academics.

The more they do this kind of idiocy, the more unpopular they will become.

You may be right but the thought of security cameras at a Catholic grade school makes me sad.

Chillingly TOTALITARIAN.

I'd bet most people who sing this have never seen it that way.

sure hard to square with the counter theme of “diversity” which said liberals are also pushing on our society.

Historic feuds between different flavors of Christianity are virtually nothing compared to the assault that barbarians are planning upon the gate.

Ah, the days of apple trees (with fruit that remained wormless without chemical aid) and honeybees (which didn’t even sting) and turtle doves (that left no pigeon poop).

To be fair, the ditty was commissioned by the Coca Cola Company and the grand unification was only intended to be over the beverage. With the biggest feud being whether it should be consumed warm or chilled.

Don't most schools have surveillance cameras, especially at entrances?

I’m not a journalist nor do I play one on TV but, isn’t this a basic WHO what where why question to ask in a report or story?

I remember the commercial. Funny, I always thought it was Coke that modified the hippie song, but your comment prompted me to look it up.

I seems Coke waived the royalty rights and the hippie generation used the song minus the phrase "I'd like to buy the world a Coke".

I learn something every day!

I'm wagering it was some disgruntled teacher(s), not students, who pulled this childish stunt.

After the way they all mobbed the capital screaming like a bunch of spoiled three-year-old brats, it would be SOP.
