I am not a doctor, and certainly not a pain management specialist, but I doubt there are any great solutions for you. But opiates over the long term make things worse. Have you tried tinge units? I think some pain specialists use methadone as a base drug. Its long half life provides a better baseline pain management profile for maintaining sufficient blood serum level when used in conjunction with shorter half life opiates. This lowers the fuzzy headedness of which you speak while maintaining a pain relief threshold and slowing the tolerance build-up that creates addiction. If you are an addict and seek the high this option can be lethal as you are elevating opiate blood serum level without the high. Adding sufficient short half life opiates to achieve the high can be fatal.
I spurn and reject you as false.
When you lay in bed, dying (almost), and the pain is horrible. I pray to someone just like you attends you.
When you get out of that bed, you'll be a wiser soul.

In the Soviet Union when the masses wanted to forget their oppression they turned to VODKA. Here in the USA the way to forget an Obamanation seems to be pills.
I’m right there with you guys on the pain thing. Fortunately I have an understanding and sympathetic doctor, she gives me what I need and only requires a visit every 6 months but she even requires that for my blood pressure meds too, which I have been taking for 20 years or so (The B.P. meds, that is).
Recently I had a blood test to check my liver and kidneys due to Tylonal usage and I am in good shape on that but I requested that she order my hydrocodone with less Tylonal anyway and she complied. Now there is just 325 m.g. in each pill. The script says 10-325 and I take up to 5 a day. It keeps the pain in check.
You have allowed your physical pain to make you very bitter. Even when someone attempts to help you strike act them. You are a poor soul.
Totally agree. I can push through the day much easier than trying to sleep in pain. Why should I have to beg the doctor for pain meds and be made to feel as though asking is a crime?
I would suggest you try acupuncture.
I also suggest, in my not a medicinal authority opinion, that you research herbal treatments. It is easy to find LEGAL herbs, usually referred to as ethnobotanicals, on the internet. These sites are nothing like the virtual pharmacies with their questionable instant diagnoses and high prices.
I wish I could name the site where I receive my perfectly legal ______, but I don't want to advertise on FR. It is a natural, unprocessed, unadulterated powder that originates in SE Asia. I take it for its anti-anxiety effects, but it is also helps me manage pain.
Again, this is a non-authoritative suggestion only. You do the research. There is plenty of literature on this and other herbal remedies. Just do a general search on 'ethnobotanicals'.
I wish you success in managing your pain.

You've nothing to say about the deaths of healthy young people in their tens of thousands?
Do you deny that there are so many deaths, or do you deny their relevance to the discussion?
You have NO CLUE what you are talking about. And therefore, are irrelevant.
I pray that you are treated as you have treated others, and one just like you treats your final pains. I pray for God's will in your life to show you, personally, your error.

Wait until the economy collapses and/or the grid goes down, and those millions of blissed out ninnies become raging maniacs. It won’t be pretty.
You are taking his general comments way too personally.
There is a portion of the population that suffers debilitating pain, the treatment of that pain is between them and their doctor. Narcs can provide enough benefit to overcome their significant risks.
There is also a large number of people taking it as a recreational drug. They aren’t in pain, they are taking it to feel good. We see kids all the time that have OD on narcs, some of them don’t survive. The biggest problem I see with these recreational users is that they are stealing everything not nailed down to pay for their drug of choice and make a real nuisance of themselves.
You should be angry at these knuckleheads if you have chronic pain, the doc seeing you has just seen someone else trying to scam him out of narcs. Those people are claiming to be in just as much pain as you are in and force the doc into a defensive position with everyone he sees.
I can only hope my prayers help, good Doctor.
Feel Better.
No, you are not bitter - not in denial either. My guess is that, with that denial system, you are a full blown addict and the reason your doc keeps you at a 10 day script is to keep you from killing yourself.
Do you really think God hears prayers that amount to curses? Your perceptions are quite distorted. Please get some counseling to work through these issues.
So, no, I'll insist on factory produced, lawful product from American companies. Lawfully dispensed, under doctor's orders.

Sometimes it's hard to avoid the consequences because we are doing what we or a doctor think is best ... when it starts. I had back surgery 2 weeks ago. I was sent home with 80 Percocet and 60 Norco for pain management. I used about 15 of the Percocet and stopped. The pain is still there, but I don't like the fuzzy brain and not being able to drive. I was doing as told by the doctor (for the first day) and then stopped following doctor's orders. I can see how easy it would have been to down them all over 3 weeks. It would have done wonders for the pain. I'm sure it's way easier to get hooked than it is to stop. I'm sure most people don't start with the hope of addiction, but most wish it would stop. Not just a choice for many.
50 thousand died when I attended grade school. Shot by communists.
I care about all that die. And all that live on and suffer.
Dead men don't hurt. Live men do.
Do you care nothing for them? Send them to perdition? Or relieve their pain.
You lift up a straw man. I choose to take care of the vets.

All I'm asking for you is what you ask for others.

I don't rate in the great scheme of things to have an MD available. So I make do. I left the hospital in a wheelchair and made do until I could walk again. I don't get meds, unless I provide them.
It's very rustic, here in Texas.
I dislike opiates because of the fuzzy brain and the constipation.
I can get opiates, mind you... or make them, if I care to.
But that's less than optimal.
Eff 'em. I've got a Merek Vet Manual. That should work ok. Mammels is mammels.

I am fine with your attitude. I do, however, wish to point out that the ethnobotanical I take is 100% legal and that I buy it from an American company which imports it from abroad. If I lived in a warmer climate, I would just buy the plants and grow my own.
