Rockwell City, IA -- Michele Bachmann just killed here deep in the corn country of Calhoun County (two-plus hours northwest of Des Moines). Standing ovation from 80 people after about a 35-minute chat Monday. Nary a word about social issues. No questions from the audience -- BUT a hand-over-the-camera snubbing of our own Shaky Hand Productions when we tried to question her...but more on that in a minute.
No, this was a take-down of President Obama. As in "This man has no clue what the problem is." Plus more of what she'd do -- dismantle the EPA (except for "conservation" -- we'll have to see what that means,)overturn Obama care. She riffed off the news of the day -- the plunging stock market -- which she said vindicated her decision not to vote to raise the debt ceiling. (Applause line.)
Plus, as you can see in this clip - the Waterloo native and 7th generation Iowan speaks to Iowans as one of them, even though she reps Minnesota. She talks like a real person does. And even though we're a bit dubious about her "titanium spine" riff (Paging Meg Whitman: Bachmann is stealing YOUR "spine of steel" riff!), she's genuine. She speaks without notes (laugh line: says she'll outlaw TelePrompters in her Administration), and her voice careens from rah-rah outdoor rally roar to a whisper ("This is a movement.")
It was the confident voice of someone who sounded like they were going to win Saturday. Unlike Rick Santorum, who told us Monday that he hopes to finish in the "second tier." Whooo-wee!!

from our perspective, obama has no clue,
but from his perspective,
he knows exactly what he’s doing—destroying america.
All of the Soros millions couldn’t buy a clue that the Obamaloon could understand.
Hope and pray this Lady is our next President.
Her practice of not taking questions is a very valid criticism of Bachmann.
I have wanted to ask her why a Christian conservative would make Ed Rollins her campaign manager.
Passionate on the talking points. Her debates will be pivot toward and regurgitation of Mr. Ed's talking points.
For many that will be enough.
Well, at least she had the guts and the integrity to actually announce her candidacy and let folks know what her real intentions are. More than I can say for others.
I think she is leaving the pack behind.
Hope it continues because she seems to have more conservative views, guts and common sense than most of the rest added together.
What a blessing that would be for our Country!
No.
That really sums up the quandry we are in.
“he knows exactly what hes doingdestroying america.”
Yep—it’s intentional.
Conservatives do things within the constraints of the Constitution, while progressives/liberals/zer0's-regime/marxists do things outside of it - in a way to eventually destroy the constitution.
Consider, conservatives wanting to use teleprompters the way the regime is currently: They would write legislation for a constitutional amendment, pass the house, signed by pres, and then to be ratified by the states that would say:
In order for TOTUS to Rule, it SHALL be natural (not manufactured in China). A particular TOTUS shall serve for four years. Shall be x months old (too young, prone to early failure and bad judgement). TOTUS can be removed from office by impeachment by the house, conviction by the senate. Etc...
For me, and I suspect for others, Bachmann’s speeches/talking are to filled with ‘I’ this, that and whatever. I suggest she direct her speeches away from the ‘I’s to a more useful and influencing use of other pronouns to bring her points closer to those being addressed.
“...filled with I...”
Well, that is kinda the point.
She is selling herself to the nation. What politician isn’t full of ‘I’s during the election season?
Sarah did the same in her manifesto yesterday.
Big hairy deal.
No???
Then why not and who else??
Jon Huntsman has a difficult time, for a politician, saying ‘I.’ It is almost always ‘we.’
Once she wins the Republican nomination, that will change, trust me.
