Peshawar, 9 August 2011, the process of land purchase has been started for Pitrand Hydro Power Project (PHPP), Abbottabad / Azad Kashmir, and all other hurdle would also be removed in a smooth manner to pave the way for early initiation of construction work on this project.
The Commissioner Hazara Division Mr. Khalid Khan Umerzai gave this assurance to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PHPP, General (Retd.) Farrukh Javed who called on him at the Commissioner House, Abbottabad, on Tuesday . The District Coordination Officer, Abbottabad, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam, the PHPP General Manager Administration and Land Acquisition, Col. Ali Shan and officers of the District Revenue Department were also present.
Expressing his views about PHPP the Commissioner said that in view of the prevailing power crises in the country such new projects of electricity generation must not be allowed to suffer due to any issue. He, therefore, assured that the Divisional and the District Administration would extend every required cooperation and support for early completion of the project adding that all the hindrances in the land acquisition process would be removed on priority basis. He told that the land was already been acquired while the DCO Abbottabad has been directed to play his role for immediately resolving any dispute in this connection.
Explaining the prominent features of the project the CEO told that PHPP would be constructed on both sides of the boundary of Abbottabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir which, on completion, would generate 147 mega watts of electricity. He said only 212 kanals of land at Abbottabad side will fall in this project and an amount of Rs.14.263 million has been allocated for its acquisition. The General revealed that in addition to the power production the project will provide employment opportunities and other long term benefits for the affected people.
I stand to be corrected but isn’t this where we popped OBL???
If true, I wonder if he had anything to do with the apparent hold up of this infrastructure project...
We are going to build them a reservoir and a hydroelectric generator plant? Cool! I couldn’t think of a damn thing to do with those few thousands of dollars anyway!
