Don’t the Bobbies have some mounted patrols? Police on horseback would really get into those crowds and disperse the scum that are looking for a fight.
Of course, I would not mind if the police declared martial law in some of those areas! Those business people are loosing their future at the hand of filth!
Many of the “youths” are armed with machetes. You’d be surprised at how quickly a machete can turn a horse from an asset into a liability.
Also, no, they’re not spontaneous. They’re organized in “flash mob” fashion not on twitter but on the Blackberry network of all things. One of the papers has even seen the schedule of where and when they’ll be on Friday night.
