With regime's fall, Christians become prey ( Egypt )

QENA, Egypt -- When Ayman Anwar Mitri heard his apartment building had burned, the high school administrator rushed to see the damage.

He found a crowd of bearded men waiting.

They "beat me all over" with charred furniture, recalls Mitri, 47, one of the Coptic Christians who make up 10 to 15 percent of Egypt's 83 million people...

"They were chanting, 'There is no god but Allah.' They wanted me to convert to Islam," Mitri says. "... I was on my knees with my hands over my head. It felt like icicles falling on my body, and I prayed."

An attacker slashed his back, an arm and a cheek with a box cutter before slicing off his right ear.

Afterward, a caller told police: "We took our Islamic justice; you can now take your civilian justice."...

He says he learned his attackers -- who were never charged -- were Salafis.

Four days later, he says, authorities forced him into a "reconciliation" meeting with the men and made him change his police statement to deny knowing the culprits.

Across Egypt, Salafis are accused of increased violence, mostly against Christians, since the Mubarak regime fell in February.

...

Salafis as "the boogeyman we have today to frighten people."

Egypt's Copts feel insecure, she says, because government inaction gives "a free hand for the Salafis to continue doing this -- cutting off ears, refusing a Christian governor, or burning a church."

Mitri says he wants to immigrate to Australia; his 11-year-old son is too afraid to attend school.

"They have the upper hand," he says of Qena's Salafis. "If they were able to shut down the train tracks throughout the governorate for a week, this proves the power they have."

The “Arab Spring” is beginning to stink.

And the Obama administration was at the forefront of enabling this overthrow, an overthrow of a leader who was friendly to the US and would brook no Islamic radicals or this type of intolerance.

But now he is gone and this is what we have in his place.

This is no big surprise. The Islamic fundamentalists know what Obama believes, they know his roots. The MSM has not reported it, but the info is out there for anyone looking:

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA'S UPBRINGING

You be the judge about his loyalties and beliefs...and then connect the dots between this background and what he is doing in terms of foreign policy. it is an ugly picture.

Anyone else find it odd that an Egyptian refered to the attack as being “struck by isicles?” Is this a common thing in Egypt....

for your review & possible ping

*sigh* Wish I didn’t have to say “told ya so”. Coptic Christians were persecuted when the old regime held the Islamists back; why they ever supported the “Arab Spring” is beyond me.

Islam doesn't recruit. You submit or die. If the Coptic Christian doesn't leave ASAP, he'll be dead fairly soon.

I remember a few years back tuning across coverage of an event on C-SPAN that was promoting ecumenical peace and harmony between Christians and Muslims. Most of the panelists were promoting the usual stuff...can’t we all get along and sing Kumbaya and such.

There were just 3 notable exceptions. A Catholic priest from Nigeria, another from someplace in East Africa, and a Coptic Christian from Egypt. All were on the front lines of Islamic persecution, and all thought you’d have to be nuts to think you can peacefully co-exist with the current state of Islam.

Just another example of why Islam and all Muslims are the enemies of civilization, society and all non-Muslims.

Islam needs to be contained, isolated and destroyed - like the cultural and social cancer it is.
