John McCain & the Wall Street Journal attacked the tea party and Christine O'Donnell as HOBBITS, who think they are going to vanquish "Mordor" (the evil kingdom) and return to the Shire. McCain (quoting from the Wall Street Journal) went out of his way to target Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle as the examples of the tea party movement that veteran Senator John McCain was criticizing.
But apparently this national political uproar of insiders viewing tea party political activists as "the little people" who are like "Hobbits" was no accident.
Christine O'Donnell's academic interest in Tolkien's use of imagery from The Lord of the Rings was publicized during her 2010 U.S. Senate campaign.
So is Christine O'Donnell the tea party's Eowyn, Lady of Rohan?
And does John McCain represent MORDOR in this imagery, after 28 years in Washington in the U.S. Congress? Does Washington insider and power player John McCain represent the old, inside-the-Beltway establishment, what is wrong with America? When John McCain taunts that the tea party will not overcome Mordor, is John McCain defending the status quo of insiders?
O'Donnell's role as a Tolkien fan became prominent during her 2010 U.S. Senate campaign.

POLITICO is a major "inside the beltway" news source for political people. Therefore, those on John McCain's staff who wrote his speech and writers at the Wall Street Journal KNEW WHAT THEY WERE REFERRING TO WHEN THEY WROTE THE "HOBBIT" MENTION.
The reference was no accident, but on the minds of John McCain's speechwriter and the Wall Street Journal's writer.
In 2003, Christine O'Donnell promoted positive role models of women in J.R. Tolkien's The Lord of The Rings, as the Communications Director for the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

What is O'Donnell's role, as John McCain explicitly targeted her among the tea party hobbits?
While Christine O'Donnell greatly admired the gently strength of Elfin (Elvin) Princess Arwen, O'Donnell identified a little more with the feminine but "scrappy" Lady of Rohan Eowyn, with Eowyn's balance between fighting when necessary and also finding peace and giving strength.
In 2003, in the Heritage Foundation forum broadcast on C-SPAN, Christine O'Donnell said:
"Look at the significance that he gives to Eowyn, the lady of Rohan. She was a warrior spirit and, to me, that's who I love. I mean, I aspire to be soft and gentle like Arwen, but realistically, I'm a fighter, like Eowyn."

McCain cant even insult people correctly. He is most likely the dumbest man in the senate.
Say, how's it coming on Urkel's college records?
mccain looks like ‘lil orphan annie.
I sent McCain an e-mail asking for my 2008 campaign contribution back. My reasoning was that I wanted to support a Republican for president and he used my money to support Obama.
once again I apologize for my state returning this guy back to the senate in 2010
No, John McCain represents Isengard, not Mordor. He’s unwittingly cast himself as Saruman.
"Listen to me! That Christine O'Donnell is a nut. Okay? A nut. Now go back to practicing reading the teleprompter. You're still a long way from being a Jedi Newscaster."
I can hear him laughing right now. I actively campaigned against and voted against mcfool. He's the reason for the treason amongst RINO's...
Those of us in the land of Lindsey "Light in the Loafers" Graham know EXACTLY how you feel, FRiend!
I voted for him in 2008 as well.
I can still hear him laughing... I should add, and you may or may not agree with my sentiments: I was appalled when mccain sank any hopes of open primaries during the 2010 election. He damaged our process by permitting crossovers to vote and get the most liberal candidates in our primaries and then request their preferred party's ballot for the general election.
I was so disgusted we registered as Independents - we may change that some year, but I want to see closed primaries that would compel me to commit.
When McLame made those comments about the Tea Party and O’Donnell and Angle, I lost what little respect I had for the man. That was despicable!
McLame is more like the cursed dead king..... Nah, he’s a breeding pit Orc, the one with a broom.
For example, why go "out of his way to target Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle as the examples of the tea party movement" anyway? That's all "Inside Baseball" now. Anyone posing as a "leader" of the "Tea Party" is flat out bogus, in my mind, and those two examples could only still be "fresh" on the minds of hipsters on the Hill, at this point.
He and the WSJ writer thought they were hitting one out of the park, but all they did was bean the umpire.
He's probably more than familiar with the Hobbit imagery ~ poor guy!
AKA Sarah Palin
He's not smart enough to be Saruman. He's more like "Wormtongue."
Remember this during the next election cycle when Roaches in FReepers clothing crawl out from beneath the refridgerator and plead that we must support RINOs to win elections.
Be prepared to smoosh the stupid Roaches when they say we have to elect someone that "the late night talk show hosts like." Yes, a FReeper once posted this to me.
