Stop calling congress. We need the numbers of every media outlet. Start hounding them. They are complicit in the hijacking of the US Constitution.

They shouldn’t get a pass on this. They are just as responsible. It is time we held the media accountable.

B the way, Reid’s bill is going to hit SCOTUS. Noway this hits obama’s desk.

Under the Constitution, both houses must recon a bill. It cannot be passed onto the pres otherwise.

Yeah, but We have a dictator now, so it's okay.

Wyatt's Torch (I can explain it to you. I can't understand it for you.)

May not be your intent, but I equate your name and tagline to Wyatt Earp's Vengence Ride that no one can verify, but few (other than the Clanton decedents) had a problem with it.

Sometimes, I say again, sometimes vigilantism is just another name for righteous citizens getting fed up with what should be true justice and that no court nor royalty nor government dictate their will by force upon a desirous free people. Think 1776.

At the beginning, the 13 colonies were the true vigilantes who took their own laws in hand and opposed British law until the movement built into the Revolutionary War.

Remember Concord and Lexington? That was not so much as a rebellion as was about free lawful men knowing they had the right to bear arms and supporting a vigilante militia to protect themselves.

Vigilante: Spanish for watchman, guard, from vigilante vigilant, from Latin vigilant-, vigilans .

Not that I believe in doing anything unlawful. Got it fedgov agencies?

So, then what happens when the Boehner Bill is rejected by the Senate, as it will be??

And what stops Reid from passing his crap bill and passing it on to the House anyway?? That is not dependent on the Boehner Bill in any way.

Reid cannot pass his crap bill by himself. He only has 53 senators. You need 60 to invoke cloture in the Senate. Therefore, Reid has to accept some GOP demands to gain GOP support and get a modified Reid bill thru the Senate. And Reid is going to go thru Hell to get there while we blast him and the Dems all weekend.

When the amended Reid bill comes back to the House, it will be Pelosi, not Boehner, who is on the hook for final passage. The Dems are the party in power. Without the Boehner bill passing in the first place, Pelosi would be under no requirement to deliver any votes for anything, and Boehner would have been left holding the bag, recognizing that he couldn’t possibly pass any version of the Reid bill with just GOP votes The GOP would then be blamed for the shutdown engineered by Obama, Reid and Pelosi.

This also protects all GOP conservatives from having to vote for an amended Reid-crap bill when the bill comes back to the House. Pelosi has to deliver, NOT Boehner or his troops.

You might not like it, and I don’t either, but it’s how legislative procedure works. Our #1 goal is to prevent disaster for the GOP and to ensure that the GOP does not become complicit in either a default or in the crumbling economy - now or later. 2012 is what matters; not this so-called crisis. A downgrade will occur, and the RATS will OWN it, with no GOP complicity.

I know it is complicated to game-out all these scenarios but it is better explained over at NRO.

Revenue bills, by the US Constitution, must originate in the House.

What Reid should be doing is amending any bill sent to him by the House. They can amend the House-originated bill into a form unrecognizable from the original, but they do have to start with a House bill. At least that’s my understanding of the Constitution.

Don’t all finance bills have to originate in the House...?

The Constitution is so passé. Besides, the Obamacare bill originated in the Senate.

Must not be a revenue bill, then. Although the democrats have their ways of getting around most rules, so who knows.

What I DO know, is I’ve got a friggin’ headache trying to figure out what’s going on!

No, Reid took a House bill, stripped it entirely of its language, and pasted in the ObamaCare text.

It’s hard to imagine how a bill to increase borrowing would not be a revenue bill, but I suppose the Senate could write it and give it to some House Democrat to introduce in the House.

I don’t think anyone knows what the dems/obama might do at this point. I’m assuming Reid will try to gut the House plan, fill it back in with his plan, pass it, then send it back to the House.

White House has signalled they might be open to a very short term debt increase while negotations/possible bill passage are underway.

Reid’s marching orders from obama seem to be make sure the the debt limit is increased enough to go past the election.

I have the feeling obama will veto anything that doesn’t go past the election. It seems to be his number one priority.

Dims are going to be upset by Tea Partiers in the House. It’s time for Obama and Reid to weigh anchor and sail away.

This was Obama’s and Reid’s plan all along. Delay, demagogue, blame the Republicans up until the last minute and then unload their plan to be hastily passed.

Exactly. And the Tea Party libertarians instigating bickering and division among Republicans only helped the unified Dems. All Ubama and Reid had to do was wait and wait, prolonging the media vilification of Republicans and... voila!! Predictable.

"Don’t all finance bills have to originate in the House...?

They do the artful dodger "deeming" trick, where the Senate "Deems it" to have already passed the House, then after the House passes, the conference committee comes and the House "gives up" its right to first passage and bingo!
