Seeds of terror in Norway [mega barf alert]
LA Times OP-ED ^ | 28 July 2011 | Andrew Gumbel

Posted on 07/27/2011 11:09:50 PM PDT by smokingfrog

America's violent far right would have no difficulty recognizing the tell-tale signatures of Friday's killing spree in Norway — and not just because they would see the confessed perpetrator, Anders Behring Breivik, as an ideological soul mate who, like their own heroes, thought he could trigger a white-supremacist revolution with bombs and bullets.

Breivik appears to have been more than simply inspired by American predecessors such as Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber: The materials he used, the way he planned and carried out his attacks, and his own writings all suggest he was deeply familiar with the actions of some notorious political killers on this side of the Atlantic.

Breivik possessed a Glock semiautomatic, the same weapon McVeigh was carrying when he was arrested by a hawk-eyed Highway Patrol officer 90 minutes after the April 1995 bombing in Oklahoma. Breivik also possessed a .223-caliber Ruger assault rifle, just like McVeigh.

The Ruger, in fact, has a long history of use by violent extremists because it is dependable, easy to load and fire, and cheaper than an AR-15 or M-16. It is also convertible, without much difficulty, to a fully automatic weapon.

Gordon Kahl, an iconic white-supremacist tax protester, was armed with a Ruger Mini-14 — the same model as Breivik's — when he led the FBI on a multi-state shooting spree from North Dakota to Arkansas in 1983. Richard Wayne Snell, a protege of Kahl's, was carrying a Mini-14 when he killed the only black trooper in southwestern Arkansas in 1984 and then battled it out with police across the state line in Oklahoma.

All you Glock and Mini-14 owners out there are just one step away from becoming mass murderers. You know who you are.

This noob is REALLY desperate if he has to go back TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS for an example to buttress his fatuous argument. Meanwhile, how many muslims since 1984 have committed murder using similar weapons???

The writer needs to seek therapy.

Therapy would not help those who have evil in the heart. This writer will NEVER acknowledge the evil acts of the left -- they don't exist in his twisted, evil mind.

Mr. Gumbel, can you explain why Mr. McVeigh renounced his religion in favor of atheism and why there was a Syrian phone number in his wallet when caught?

Oh, how about Ruby Ridge and Waco?

How about Gun Runner? Fast & Furious? MS-13 & Zetas?

Heard of them, your buddy Serrano keeps writing, but you keep ignoring...

And so McVey was facilitating islamism, as was this latest bum.

Were they recruited - as islamists have been trying to lure disaffected other westerners for some time - or were they just hangers-on?

What difference would it make?

The writer needs to seek therapy.

He is, he's writing a book...which will probably be made into a movie, and then we'll all need therapy.

The media pundits always try to figure out the twisted logic of these mass murderers; but to no avail. How can you figure out the motives of insanity?

Perhaps he simply saw the wrong movie. In point, this Norway episode reminds me of the 1932 horror classic, "The Most Dangerous Game", starring Joel McCrea and Fay Wray. In it, an insane hunter, Count Zaroff, arranges for a cabin cruiser to be shipwrecked on his remote island. He then indulges in his favorite game of hunting the passengers, the "most dangerous game"...that of tracking and killing humans. Great flic, but crazy people shouldn't watch it.

I’m not going to waste time looking this reporter/author up, but he seems to be akin to the idiot Gumbel brothers that are on various sports shows. They are horrible analysts.

That said... I’m sure I’ve read that these were not “kids” that were killed on the island. They were late teens and others up to around 30 years old who were attending an indoctrination camp for marxist/socialist ideals.

Really tiresome seeing the media make it sound like a bunch of little innocent kids were gunned down while attending vacation bible school.

I sold my Mini-14 but I now own a Galil Golani so I guess that means I’m in league with “dem JOOOOOOOOOZ” that the Norwegian prime minister holds in such contempt.

This Gumbel must be brother of Bryant “Dumbbell” Gumbel. Every night they check under their beds to make sure no member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is hiding there.

The seeds of terror were originated in Norway when they started letting in half-intelligent Muslim immigrants. According to police stats all the rapes in Oslo, forty-one, over a three year period were committed by Muslim immigrants from the mid-east and Africa. Breivik deserves to swing from the gallows for his crimes, but the origins started with naive leftist pols who hate their own country.

Hey, I blew it today. Not even thinking about the consequences I posted an article from a Conservative European Journal about coverage of the murders in Oslo. It was one of the sites mentioned in Breivik’s manifesto.

Not a single person commented on that post. It should have dawned on me that they are still suspect, even though it is obvious they did not precipitate the incident.

Dummy me.
