JUAREZ- More than a dozen inmates are dead from a riot at the Cereso prison in Juarez, several more are wounded. It happened overnight when rival gangs got into a fight. We're told one gang attack another gang in a holding cell. The fight included several gunshots. The inmates then briefly took control of the prison until Mexican soldiers and federal police formed a barrier and stopped them.
A total of 16 men and one woman are dead, all of them inmates. Investigators say some of the inmates were disguised as security guards and were heavily armed.
"We don't know how they got the guns for the attack but an investigation will determine a cause of death and who provided the guns for the attack, says Manuel Del Castillo, Juarez Spokesperson.
Video from inside the prison shows at least six inmates with ski masks shooting at other inmates. During the riot several inmates tried to escape from the Cereso prison. Chihuahua state police are interviewing about 200 people from guards to inmates and even office workers at the prison.
ATF?
Friends of Holder.
16 less votes for Obama.
I was going to write that it sounds like a win/win situation, or that it was just a “trimming of the herd” exercise, but I decided not to.
Too bad it wasn’t 160,000!
ask Steadman
What gets me is that the “press” (no good-will intended) will ignore gun walker at all costs. No matter how high the bodies pile up.
They ignored 7 million men women and children starved to death by Stalin in the 30s... what’s a few hundred or thousand murders by ATF “walked” guns compared to that?
And anyway, they’re all just Mexicans, right New York Times? Right, Washington Post?
Aaaaaah, that’s too bad.
Mexico is still Mexico. You ever go to Horneys?
Been to Horney’s; spend more time at Mike’s and the Lone Star Cafe though.
Here’s an update to the Prison Riot.

Really? I never knew Mexican border jails were such happening nightspots. I’ll have to get on the guest list for TJ.

JUAREZ - Two Americans were among the 17 people who were killed during a fight at the Cereso prison.
The fight broke out earlier this week, when inmates got the keys to a holding cell and shot several people inside.
We’re told one of the prisoners was from El Paso, but lived in Juarez, and was serving time at the prison. The other inmate is believed to be from California.
The incident remains under investigation.
