The nominee to be the next chief of the US military pledged to guide the armed forces through a new era while sending a tough warning to Iran not to pursue nuclear weapons or sponsor attacks in Iraq.

At his confirmation hearing, General Martin Dempsey pledged to guide the world's most powerful military through a new era of tighter budgets and challenges such as cyber war. He promised to carry out orders for a drawdown in Afghanistan and to keep up pressure on Pakistan to fight Islamic militants.

Or what? We’ll throw our worn-out, downsizing daily, over strapped military at you?

Paid for with money borrowed from the Chinese?

Our threats are a joke to bad actors today.

As a CJCS he is already a joke. Threaten Iran? Give me a break. They already know that we won’t do a damn thing.
What would Reagan do?

Reagan had a lot more tools, and a growing military. We are like Britain in 1946 and the world knows it.

BTW, speaking of which, the Brits now say entire regiments will be marching straight into the history books on their return from the sandbax.

You’re exactly right. And we have an avowed enemy of our own country in our White House who is looked upon as a street punk and thug by our enemies.

Did you see the propsed changes to military retirement that hit Navy Times yesterday? I am over 20 years and I am very afraid. In the near term, there is a very high potential that a lot of the mid-rank people are going to bolt. I am currently deployed to the Middle East and we are getting crushed by having to work longer and harder with way less than just a few years ago.

I hear you. This hits close to home here too.

I worry that retirements will be paid in scrip, “Liberty Bonds,” or hyperinflated dollars that won’t buy a Happy Meal.

"Our threats are a joke to bad actors today. "

That's a RIDICULOUS statement.

The US military could eliminate every other military capability in the world, combined, in less than 36 hours.

Do you even have a clue what you are talking about?

Either the statement belies your true motive, or you have no idea what relative military capabilities are.

The balance of power has one pole.

Hahaahaahhaaa!!!

Unless you are talking about just nuking Iran, glass-parking-lotting it before they test their own nukes, they are not worried about our REAL WORLD potential capabilities going forward.

While everyone should doubt he who holds the sword today, NOBODY should doubt it’s heft and edge.

They are not worried about a sorry POS who is our CinC. 0bama couldn’t intimidate one of the street punks he used to organize. But that doesn’t make him any less dangerous.......to America.

And within Obama’s (hopefully) single term, the Iranians will test a nuke, and announce ten more, on top of long range missiles, on mobile platforms.

They laugh in our face.

Yes they do. Deservedly so because they see a fat, spoiled child (America) has elected such a low caliber, in every way, scum of the earth.

Our adversaries laugh at us and have absolutely no respect for us.

America is being set up for the greatest economic and military “hit” in history. In my opinion, of course.

To understate, recent domestic policies and trends have seen to it, that there would be operations and morale difficulties in any large, intense scenario. I doubt that our nation has the will at this time.

“changes to military retirement “

I saw that. Can they change your retirement in midstream like that?
