As a staffer in a Chicago Republican candidate for mayor (John Waner Nixon’s HUD chief)campaign, btw it’s now non partisan. G.Romney then governor of Michigan had a group of advisors come down from Detroit. One of them was a young Mitt whom I met. Romney’s Mormonism was being brought up even then.

At that time The Chicago Archdiocease had the third largest school system in the US hence very Catholic.

I knew that it was coming up some, but the in depth examination, and the national conversation had not started yet before he had already started fading.

Even Mitt’s Mormon anal exam has not yet started.
