Obama, Boehner Considered $1T 'Gimmick' in Debt Deal (The Tea Party isn't stupid, RINOS!)
Fox News ^ | July 22, 2011 | Peter Barnes

Until their budget talks broke down Friday evening, President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner were considering including more than $1 trillion in previously-announced cuts in war spending in a new round of deficit reduction proposals, sources close to the negotiations said—a move some analysts called a “gimmick.”

“Counting that $1+ trillion towards claimed deficit reduction would be taking credit for policies already in effect and would therefore be a gimmick,” the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget said in a June report warning of possible budget games in deficit talks.

The step could have been part of a deal to increase the national debt ceiling that included about $3 trillion or more in proposed deficit reduction over the next decade, according to sources.

I'm waiting. I'm watching. I'm reading, analyzing, reasoning out what the GOP is going to do about the debt ceiling, and our crushing debt.

I'm in no mood for parlor trick games or sleight-of-hand tricks by sleezy RINO politicians.

I expect this kind of behavior from the ObamaNation, but not the supposedly 'conservative-reformed' GOP.

November 2010 was America's wake-up call to fix what is broke...

...and if my elected leaders don't fix the problem, then they BECOME the problem, and I'll be voting AGAINST them in November 2012!

And people right here on FR wonder why a lot of us don’t trust Weepy to do the right thing. Anyone with an ounce of integrity would never ‘consider’ anything that dishonest.

He has to go. I just pray that we can endure until we elect enough good people to ‘attempt’ to fix the damage the DemocRino party has done. And that’s STILL no sure thing regardless.

This is just too simple for games to mask the truth.

Any reduction over several years is a fiction, less than five Trillion over ten years might just barely cover the interest, with no reduction in the principle debt!

This congress cannot mandate the actions of any future congress.

The only real reduction has to be what is reduced NOW, this year, not mumbo-jumbo fairy dust promises of future reductions.

And yes, I do indeed demand real reductions BEFORE the next election.
The election is still over a year away, we have elections every two years.
If we are now “Too close to the election to make hard choices which might lead to dissatisfaction among some voters” we will NEVER be able to make meaningful cuts!

Take all spending “off budget” and the problem is solved!

So easy a RINO can do it.

Why should we be surprised?

The problem is too much spending in Washington. The RINOs constantly remind everyone about this fact to the point of becoming annoying. There should be no quibbling over the fact that spending is way out of control, that RINOs should support any legislation that cuts spending to historic lows.

--------------------------

I agree Loyal Sedition.

I AGREE WITH THAT

It's ironic that the people who are calling for the government to spend only what it takes in are called extremist. Given a debt that is currently six times our annual income, it seems reasonable to spend only what we make. Cut spending, cut spending, cut spending. Raising the debt ceiling will only make Democrats spend more!

Obama has raised the debt by 23.8% of the GDP in 2 years. The debt now stands at 93.2% of the GDP. In the past century, such rapid increase happened only in 1943-45 during WWII. It took 20 years to reduce that debt.

Obama cannot blame Republicans. Obama's spending rate is 12% of GDP/yr, Reagan's was 2.3%, H.W. Bush's (41) was 2.2%, and George W. Bush's (43) was 1.5% of GDP.

If we allow these clowns a $2 trillion debt ceiling increase it will be quickly gone. And just like that, Congress will be back stealing more, in no time flat.

There's so much to hammer on here with this administration.

Time to step up Republicans!

You're expecting more than can be delivered with one half of one third of the law making entities.

Just remind yourself it could be Pelosi, Reid and Obama making all the decisions. That is the alternative.

We push Boehner and the House hard now, and come back even stronger in 2012 to grab the Senate and maybe even the White House to clean this mess up.

The House has passed a budget. It's put forth the Ryan plan. It's passed "Cut, Cap & Balance" and nothing gets beyond the Senate because we need at least 3 or 4 Democrats to votes with the GOP.

We couldn't even get a Senate debate and vote on CCB! They voted on whether to not vote on it! That may mean Reid knew the votes to pass it were there had was under orders not hold a vote.

Talk of 10 year "grand bargains" are a waste of time. No Congress can require the next to spend at certain levels so we're looking at the scale of theatrics.

What matters most is immediate cuts in 2012 ($100b+), what games are played with the tax code (deductions vs. loophole closures vs. rate hikes) and how far the debt ceiling is going up. $1t, $2t, $2.5 trillion. Will it go beyond the 2012 election?

We need realistic expectations of what Boehner can get accomplished before throwing him and the rest of the GOP House under the bus.

“We need realistic expectations of what Boehner can get accomplished before throwing him and the rest of the GOP House under the bus. “

Here it is.

“Obama, We are done. Ball is totally in the Dem court. Not one cent more. You can cut or shuffle whatever you think you need to and answer for whatever you do to the American people. Congress is not giving you one cent.”

That is what he can realistically accomplish and has the total power and authority to do. Anything else SHOULD get him a ticket to the bottom of the bus.

I’m beginning to think that the only way we MIGHT see genuine cuts would be for the house to grow a pair.

Make it a flat out ultimatum, NO debt increase, NONE!
Real cuts ONLY, real cuts NOW, so no need to increase the debt ceiling.

There are MANY agencies, commissions, and boards to cut in size, or even better, eliminate entirely.
Cut every program designed to make the lives of illegals easier.
Cut giveaways to foreign countries who really contribute nothing to us in return.
Cut the H1B and “Lottery” immigration programs, let IBM, etc. support U.S. schools for a change.
It takes YEARS to open even a small mine, or get a drilling permit, cut the red tape that is strangling our resource development.
Stop subsiding “Green” fantasies.
De-fund the EPA, let American business prosper.
Cut several of the unnecessary Fed. SWAT teams.
Cease supporting the eco-nuts and other lobbyist, it’s already illegal for any federally funded group to lobby for or against pending legislation!

Publish the plan for all to read.
Only the most irrational socialist will truly object, NOTHING any Republican does will ever satisfy them in any case.

There is LOTS more to be cut, but it will take some integrity and back-bone to do it.

If the Dims refuse to concur, let the market do it’s worst, the temporary pain cannot be worse than the lingering disease our budget has become!

Bingo!

I have said similar on other posts. First, eliminate all Foreign aid and in the case of Israel, put them under Defense spending as that it totally appropriate.
Make people vote on whether or not to give aid on a country by country basis. EVERY TIME.

Next eliminate most of the alphabets. DEA Dept of Energy, Dept. of Education, BLM, Interior, Agriculture, Labor, BATFE Homeland security TSA and all. The FBI/CIA can handle the law enforcement angle. The rest should never have existed.

The money saved right there would result in taxed being LOWERED, not raised.

Candidates running on that platform would get a broad base of support and the Dems would get wiped out of power.

By their math, if they eliminated DoE ($30 billion) and DoEd ($50 billion), they would claim $800 billion over 10 years. In reality, it is $80 billion, one time. More not spent in future years are NOT cuts.

Since its inception, DoE has spent over $ 500 billion to “make us less dependant on foreign oil”. Today, we are more dependant on foreign oil and all the alternative sources are not viable without more massive spending.

The DoEd has spent its billions to collect money from the states, spend it on bureaucracy and redistributed back to the states. The result is poorer education, rampant fraud and unbelievable waste.

My god all spending comes from the house, you leave it out and it is no longer authorized. Period But then you have the lame ass surrender monkeys in the republican party supporting big, bigger government, saying we cannot fire anybody, we cannot do this, we cannot do that. If that is the case how come the damn democrats can wave a magic wand and deem something passed.

Talk of a deal was a flyer to gauge the reaction. Both side want to put up the usual bogus, utterly meaningless “deal” that shuts us up and allowes them to get back to doing what they want.

They STILL have no clue that the party is over. It went for 66 years but it is over. Done. Finito, Benito.
