Tea Party group slams Boehner, McConnell

A large umbrella group for Tea Party activists targeted Republican leaders Tuesday for what they called caving in on the deficit talks.

The Tea Party Nation put House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on notice "for betraying the movement that put Republicans in charge of the lower chamber last year."

In a press release, Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips drew a hard line for the Tea Party position. Phillips warned that his organization is on the lookout for Republicans voting to give away "more borrowing authority to President Obama" without also ensuring spending cuts, entitlement reform, passage of a balanced-budget amendment and defunding programs such as Planned Parenthood and the healthcare reform law.

"Voting for the 'Cut, Cap and Balance' plan won't save you from the Tea Party's wrath if you ultimately vote for a cheap giveaway of more debt to Obama, as McConnell and Boehner are planning," Phillips said.

Calling Boehner and McConnell "RINOs" (Republicans in Name Only), Phillips warned that the Tea Party would not stand behind them in their next election if they compromised in order to reach a debt ceiling agreement. Tea Party Nation, which holds an annual Tea Party convention that boasted former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a speaker last year, plans to turn its influence toward "hunting RINOs and defeating Democrats" in 2012.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. On another thread today, I have posted the following which, I hope, will further reinforce my image.

The American founding philosophy exhibited a reliance on the basic intelligence, curiosity, innovation, and productive abilities of individuals to create beneficial things for themselves and, thereby, for their neighbors as well.

Surprisingly, the moral philosopher Adam Smith's "An Enquiry into the Causes of the Wealth of Nations" was published at about the same time as the Declaration of Independence in America.

Free, though imperfect, individuals, unencumbered by the heavy hand of a political elite of likewise imperfect persons, could create goods and services, freely exchange the work of their own hands, and enrich the lives of people all over the world.

Millions flocked to America over the next 200 years to participate in the freedom provided by what Madison called a "benign" government (meaning, it was not a malignancy which consumed "the People's" wealth). By that mechanism, America became a literal breadbasket for the world and the source of compassion and benevolence unmatched by any other nation.

Fast forward to the Mao/Marx/Lenin/Keynes philosophy which possesses the current Administration and its supporters. That world view relies on what Madison and the other Founders surely would call a "malignant" government--one which coercively imposes its imperfect will on the individuals who create and work, in order to select and "redistribute" their earnings to political allies and friends. In other words, the mechanism is legalized theft from some for the benefit of a captive group of dependencies who will continue to vote the "redistributors" into positions of power.

The definition of one is LIBERTY. The definition of the other is TYRANNY.

Can you decide which best would answer Adam Smith's 1775 query:

"An Enquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations"?
