It was ‘quite amusing’ that in the late 80s - early 90s period you see a lot advertisements and magazine articles of ‘high powered young executives’ abandoning their high paying but stressful jobs to return to nature to alpaca farms, inner peace and all that, and spend more time with their children.
I just thought some ones are doing a pretty good con job.
who wants to live among gangs, immigrants, drugs, and filth?
Its called common sense.
Most rational people have figured out that we’re out of money used to keep the feral humans in the cities at bay.
a loft in a cool, funky neighborhood close to bars and theaters sounds appealing until you have your first kid and he wants to go outside and play.
For some, the city offers professional or social opportunities that just can’t be duplicated elsewhere. For most however, it’s just a very expensive tax on just about everything. The trick is to figure out which group you fall into.

I see the Left propagandists have appropriated “bright” from the atheists, and applied it to the hip and inclusive condescending crowd who rise above “fear” and “get it” about urban living.
There is nothing “bright” about choosing for your living environment, third world savagery over the peaceful and law-abiding folks at the top of western civilization.
Young wealthy professionals have never flocked to any area that has a lot of black people; they will move into an area after they’ve been removed.
Anyone telling you otherwise is lying.
Kotkin is right, esp. when you consider (duh) that 65% of college grads move back in with their parents according to a recent study!!!! Who the hell wants to live in crime-infested, congested, corrupt, smelly inner cities just so you can go to a bar twice a week?
