WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- Police said a suspect in a Friday morning robbery at a pharmacy may be the same man police found four hours later passed out at a traffic light just two blocks from the police station.

The man who held up the Walgreens at 9970 Wadsworth Parkway at about 9:20 a.m. Friday displayed a handgun, according to Investigator Trevor Materasso. The gunman demanded narcotic pain pills during the robbery.

Materasso said pharmacy employees noticed the gunman appeared to be bleeding on his right side and that blood had soaked through his clothing, pooling on the floor where he was standing, police said.

Originally, police thought the Walgreens gunman had accidentally shot himself before robbing the pharmacy.

Police are holding the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and are working to confirm if the driver is the same man who held up the pharmacy four hours earlier.

Note to self: When planning on robbing people and establishments at gunpoint, skip the Oxycontin for a few hours.

“blood had soaked through his clothing, pooling on the floor where he was standing”

Plenty of DNA available for prosecution.

And where was the answer to the obvious question? Was he injured or not, and was he transported to hospital? Such sloppy reporting is so common place it casts doubt on all media.

Reporters used to follow the 6 W rule - who, what, where, when, why, and how.
