The executive director of a ministry that works with the persecuted church in the northern reaches of Vietnam says he's outraged that a "prophecy" by an American preacher apparently cost the lives of many tribal Hmong people who believed it.
The prediction by Harold Camping, 89, of Oakland, Calif.-based Family Radio, was that Jesus Christ would return to Earth to "rapture" his followers to heaven on May 21. Camping said mankind had run out of time, and the Creator of the universe would arrive on that Saturday.
The horrific aftermath of the unfulfilled prophecy was reported by James Jacob Prasch, a key leader of Moriel Ministries, which emphasizes the "last days apostasy" discussed in the Bible and ministers to persecuted church members.

Once again, I have a typo in the title.
Regardless, Harold Camping is going to regret his heresy.
Very interesting that the stroke primarily affected Camping’s speech.
I am extremely skeptical of this story. WND is not exactly trustworthy.
Got any examples???
Indeed. If it’s not on CNN, it never happened...
What “proof” do you have that “WND is not exactly trustworthy”? Hmmmm???
This report is from a guy in the field who has no reason to make this stuff up. Is it so hard for you to believe that poor, impoverished Christians around the world are being persecuted in the most violent ways, just as Jesus said we would be?
The story writes Christians are murdered because of their membership in a church. Readers should be aware that the yellow skin Vietnamese despise the dark skin Montagnards as an inferior race. Montagnards vigorously supported America during the Vietnam war. The communists remember that and see that as reason enough to kill Montagnards. Religion may play a role, but it’s not the only one here.
I don’t know why WND makes up stuff but they do.
Again, I ask—give me an example of anything WND “made up.”
Your tagline gives away your off-base thinking.
The Vietnamese govt. persecutes Christians, but thank goodness smart and patriotic Americans like John McCain opened up “free trade” with Vietnam so we can enjoy cheap imports, just as we did in China (which also persecutes Christians). Those Asian Christians just have to realize that “free trade” is so much more important than their rights and American national security. /s
I did a speedy read of the article and saw nothing that justified the Rapture Aftermath.
Camping is a crackpot hopefully confined to a nursing home, that said, the title is disingenuous.
After listening to a translation of Camping's prediction 7,000 of these people (known in the West as Montagnards) gathered on a mountain praising God their suffering at the hands of the communist regime was about to end because Jesus was returning that day in May to establish a new kingdom.
The police and military police slaughtered many of them at gunpoint beheading two pastors. Others were arrested. I am told by Hmong pastors that so many were shot dead that they were buried in mass graves bulldozed over in an episode that I read about in Britain but did not understand the magnitude of until I got here.
I guess you can equivocate in any number of ways. The fact remains that Americans are "blissfully" unaware of how bad Christians around the world are abused at the hands of hellish regimes.
Terrible, but then again it’s being reported by WND; so who knows what the truth of the story actually is.
That’s telling him.
prove what fiction they write or continue to look the fool
>>> What proof do you have that WND is not exactly trustworthy? Hmmmm???
Personally I am still waiting for the Al Qaeda nukes to go off like WND promised. TOTALLY trustworthy.
Al-Qaida nukes already in U.S.
Terrorists, bombs smuggled across
Mexico border by MS-13 gangsters

“...thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming “American Hiroshima” plan.
Bin Laden’s goal, according to the book, is to kill at least 4 million Americans, 2 million of whom must be children.
The future plan, according to captured al-Qaida agents and documents, suggests the attacks will take place simultaneously in major cities throughout the country including New York, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.”

Go the Moriel Ministries website. Website states that James Prasch has health problems and will not be doing any traveling in 2011.
There is no mention of the Hmong massacre on their Latest News, Articles, and Information page.
No, we are not blissfully unaware that there is more Christian persecution going on in the world than in any time in history.
The story sounds like something that took place during the Viet Nam war. The red flags went up.
Okay, then. I guess we’ll just hide and wait for the enemy within to attack America.
Great plan, guys!
