House democrats blocked the repeal of the light bulb ban. A majority of Americans oppose the government’s unpopular and unnecessary ban on incandescent bulbs and infringement on choice. On January 1 2012, 100 watt incandescent bulbs will become illegal, with lower wattages to follow.

The democrats just voted to give jobs to China.

This was due to a mistake by Bonehead who did not run it through the committee, where it would have needed only a simple majority to pass, Bonehead bypassed the committee and took it straight to the floor, thus requiring a super majority. The Republicans are so incompetent

The Republicans are so incompetent

Nobody is that incompetent, Boner wanted it to fail and now has the excuse *he tried*. The fix was in from the get-go.

Boner stabbed the wishes of the majority of Americans in the back again and thinks he got away with it.

Lets see...

Its a “right” to kill a baby in the womb but it is illegal to sell a 100 watt incandescent light bulb in America... A light bulb that has been available for 100+ years... With no toxic metals... No real hazard at all...

That’s how far we’ve come as a country...

If that doesn’t sum up where we are today, I don’t know what does.

The bill was meant to fail, requiring 2/3 majority to pass.

From another article:

“A source tells the Michigan View that the bill will likely be brought up under “suspension,” which means no amendments will be allowed and passage requires a two-thirds majority.”

At this point, I have decided that I am smarter than all the cretins, perverts, liars, thieves and other criminals that infest Versailles on the Potomac. Therefore, I have bought and will continue to buy incandescent light bulbs right up until their deadline.

They can drown in the sea of mercury they create.

If the GOP can NOT do anything about straight up Racketeering with this scam on light bulbs then what good are they going to be in overturning national healthcare, rolling back taxes, global warming Racketeering scam, oil drilling in US, energy policy that would actually help America, the debt ceiling, Fanny and Freddy housing market scam, defending America against enemies foreign and domestic, cutting spending and fixing the budget?

It would indeed seem that members of congress are lawfully participating in corruption and a complete dereliction of duty when it comes to the constitution of the United States of America.

It just another dog and pony show vote of "We'er trying to fix things but those evil democrats and a some republicans eerrr evil democrats are stopping us". "Please don't look at our left hand just keep you eye on the right hand". It looks like democrats have much better leadership in keeping their pawns on a tight leash and voting lock step with them than the republicans.

This bill should have been a easy sell for the GOP.

Corrupt.
I like this anecdote: “There was a group of researchers who put five monkeys in a habitat. There was a banana hanging at the top of a small staircase. Whenever the monkeys approached the banana, they were sprayed with cold water. It didn’t take long for the monkeys to stop trying for the banana. When a new monkey was placed in the habitat - and one of the original four removed - the new monkey would try for the yellow treat. The other monkeys would grab him, not letting him even try to reach the banana. The researchers substituted all the monkeys one-by-one, until all five of the original monkeys were gone. None of the new monkeys would try for the banana. They didn’t know why - they just knew, “that’s the way we do it around here - No one tries for the banana.”
That is why it is sometimes necessary to replace all of the monkeys, all at once, and start over.

Can you imagine way back when the Constitution was just written that a bunch of “progressive” members of the Congress came out with a new law dictating what size candles would be used and that they would be made in England?

Somehow, I have this strange feeling that that just would not fly for the very reason that the newly written Constitution never gave the federal government the powers to do that in the first place!

That guy Fred Upton has got to GO.

He should never have gotten the committee chairmanship.

A complete disgrace.

If the Republicans can’t fix the light bulb ban, how are they going to repeal Obamacare, stop new taxation and keep the debt ceiling in place? Time to CONTINUE to not support the Republicans who voted against this!

"John Boehner OH-8 ... did not vote ... uh, if ya' can't vote on this one, John ... time to hang it up!"
The others I won't explain but I believe there is a procedural reason where if you didn't vote or voted NO allows you to bring the bill back up without going through committe again. Anyone?
