EDITORIAL: Obama’s hostility to the truth--White House needs to own up to its war in Libya
The Washington Times ^ | July 5, 2011 | Editorial

Posted on 07/05/2011 5:54:30 PM PDT by jazusamo

President Obama dismissed criticism of his Libya policy last week, saying, “A lot of this fuss is politics.” Regardless of action on Senate Joint Resolution 20, the McCain-Kerry plan to authorize the limited use of force in Libya, the more important issue is Mr. Obama’s unwillingness to own up to his decisions in his role as commander in chief. Mr. Obama took the country to war in Libya, and he should admit it.

The fuss goes beyond politics, beyond whether Mr. Obama’s policies are in the U.S. national interest and even beyond whether American military action has been effective. The most important issue is Mr. Obama’s contempt for the intelligence of the American people. No one believes the self-serving White House argument that U.S. involvement in Libya’s civil war does not constitute “hostilities.” Mr. Obama’s legalistic attempt to duck his responsibilities under the War Powers Resolution has left his administration having to defend the biggest credibility gap since “the light at the end of the tunnel.”

The war over “hostilities” was launched on June 15 with a White House memo to Congress that argued that the “limited” American role in Libya did not rise to the level of action envisioned by framers of the War Powers Resolution. State Department legal adviser Harold Koh has been the point man defending the administration’s creative use of language, though he hasn’t been very effective. After his testimony last week before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, senators approved the McCain-Kerry resolution with a passage stating flatly that U.S. actions in Libya “constitute hostilities within the meaning of the War Powers Resolution.”

BO doesn’t have any credibility. Those who support him will continue to do so regardless of his lies.

...and Yemen, Somalia, Egypt, Iraq, Aghanistan, and against Israel through proxies. And abandonment of the United States of America.

and its ROE, accounting changes to hide budget cuts, TRICARE cuts, switching to Panetta via musical chairs, etc., etc., etc.

Dick Obama is apparently violating the law and the Constitution, with no consequences.

Yes!

No one will step forward to defend this nation’s existence. We are witness to the wholesale abandonment and looting of the US.

I am sure code pink and huffpo/AOL and KOS and DU will summon their minions to protest this illegal war — blocking streets in major cities, getting into Washington DC tourists’ faces, complete with pictures of the president as Satan on posters and huge banners with “The People Love Soldiers who shoot their Officers” — right?

Right?

By the President’s definition, the attack on Pearl Harbor wasn’t an act of war since the Japanese didn’t send in ground troops.

People are just picking on Obama because he is black.

Any criticism of Obama is racist.

He is turning the Middle East over to Iran, and the Muslim brotherhood, but if we complain it’s racist.
He won’t drill for oil in our country but, any criticism is because he is racist
He doesnt hAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONSTITUTION, HE MAKES HIS OWN LAWS , HE SENDS HIS REGULATING AGENCIES TO ENFORCE HIS DICTATORIAL ORDERS, HE DECLARES LAWS UNCONSTITUTIONAL HE SUES STATES FOR MAKING THEIR OWN LAWS, HE TELLS TEXAS WHO TO EXECUTE,HE IS THE OBAMA.

You’re right. The GOP in Congress should have been all over Zer0 on this as soon as it happened but they sat back and did squat. As much as I dislike Kucinich I have to give him credit on shouting out about this.

You’d think the left would be marching so hard on DC they’d shut it down for this ‘illegal war’.

>>All those pinko’s must have crawled back under the floor moldings when this happened cuz they sure haven’t made any noise about it.<<

“Illegal” war isn’t bad (even when prosecuted legally under the War Powers Act) — it is only bad when Republicans see the need.

When liberals prosecute an illegal war (and don’t bother with that silly “War Powers Act”), it is a time for devastating, principled, OVERWHELMING... silence.

-——You’d think the left would be marching so hard on DC ——

The reason is because the various community organizers have not been funded to organize and pay for a march.

A liberal I work with, who was vehemently antiwar when Bush was in office, posted on his Facebook page, “Go USA!” the day the air attacks in Libya started.

We need to remind ourselves that a vast majority of liberals stand for nothing but power. It’s all about power. The power to loot the Treasury and fill their own bellies.

I have been checking out the old antiwar groups websites lately and they sure are in a quandary. Code Pink is mostly concerned about Israel and the Gaza flotilla and you have to search hard to even find a reference to Libya. Their “War Criminals” section is composed of only republicans. A common theme of their war criminal charges are “propagated illegal war on a sovereign nation.”
How do you explain the Democrat’s actions in Libya, Code Pinko’s?

***CRICKETS***

The antiwar movement, like all leftwing activist groups, are just a sham and a front operation for the democrat party. TOTAL FRAUDS!
