As a 'Potential' Presidential Candidate, Life Is Good
The Atlantic ^ | June 29, 2011 | Beth Reinhard

Posted on 07/02/2011 10:51:43 AM PDT by Clairity

Why these Republicans love sitting on the fence.

What's the rush? Having those three words -- "potential presidential candidate'' -- next to your name can be addictive.

"There's a fun factor to being almost a candidate,'' said John Sununu, New Hampshire's former governor and party chairman. "People listen to you, but you don't have all of the responsibilities that come with running for president.''

Palin, who is well known nationally from her vice presidential bid in 2008, two biographies, one reality television show, and now, a documentary titled The Undefeated, can probably afford to wait the longest.

As head of the Republican Governors Association, Perry has national contacts. He's also got staffers who are veterans of past presidential campaigns.

"If Rick Perry gets in, he'll instantly have an off-the-shelf campaign in Day One, though I think time is growing short,'' said Rick Wilson, a Republican consultant based in Florida. "The only one who can wait until she damn well chooses is Palin.''

Interesting take -- but within a month or two we should have the final list of GOP candidates.

With 2012 Fundraising in Swing, Time Running Out to Enter GOP Field

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07/02/with-2012-fundraising-in-swing-time-running-out-to-enter-gop-field/

“But time is running out to make a decision. With Thursday marking the end of the second fundraising quarter, donors are well on their way to picking candidates and investing in them. Announced candidates are well on their way to setting up a fundraising infrastructure to absorb, and keep absorbing, that support. There’s nothing to stop donors from hedging their bets and backing another contender once primaries begin, but the ability of tentative candidates to claim their share of the pie can fade the longer they wait, strategists say. “

I’ve been hearing a lot of money is sitting on the sidelines thanks to Organize4Palin operatives in early states telling republican activists to keep their options open , Palin will get in. Lot of activist sitting on sidelines too waiting ... one reason Bachmann can’t get any grassroots going. Palin has the race frozen.

Reagan announced on the upcoming memorial day if this was the 1980 election.

Why should Sarah be stampeded? The media and repub establishment doesn’t call the tune now. F ‘em. Announcing this early only benefits the pundit industry, and make you into a fixed target for media assaults. It’s called maneuver warfare,,,,

People like Mitt are too dense to see it.

I think only one of those is going to run, and the other two are going to endorse the one that runs....and that one will be the next President....

Perry will be the next flavor of the week when he gets in but like Bachmann , he can’t win. Perry lookls like Bush , talks like Bush and has the whole bible from Texas compassionate vibe going. Bush could not win the nomination or a third term if he was able to run and Perry in his shadows is lost too. Bachmann won’t be nominated because she won’t be taken seriously with her limited experience which shows in her high staff turnover in Congress and the messy way her campaign runs as leaked by staff like not following up on important calls from donors and party activist to making gaffes because of a lack of fact checks , ect. She has several skeletons in her closet waiting to haunt her later and a bit of an Al Gore problem where as the truth would serve her better but she just has to stretch it or fabricate false talking points. Newt has self destucted. Pawlenty is going nowhere. Cain is stuck and has staff problems. The party will nominate Mitt. Palin is the only one with enough grassroots to overcome the party machine behind Mitt.

Right! The media wants the horse race and the thoroughbred isn’t about to leave the barn until she’s feeling her oats!

These control freaks can’t stand that someone is out there not listening to THEM.

“Giuliani will endorse Sarah Palin for sure”

Will that mean that Sarah will be called a “RINO” and FR will campaign against her, just because Giuliani endorses her?

Bachmann would be doing better but for the Rollins botch job. It could have been worse for her though. The cats paw could have been the porcine Rove, but he is holding his fire for later.

Yeah, the leftist scum, MSM Marxists, and nuisance litigants made Sarah smart, and now they whine to high Heaven that she is pulling down a salary and big donations, while their character assassinations have all but stalled, their shill journolists can't get close enough to sound bite her, and they can't sic Rat election regulators on her.

Still they can't stampede her, and Sarah plays 'em like a fiddle and beats 'em like a drum.

I only hope she gets tougher after becoming POTUS, and shows 'em what a pro American Justice Department looks like.

Should not happen but Ron Paul gets a lot of sh't around here because of people who back him.

They're talking about big money donors, not us little folk. There's still plenty of time.

When Sarah makes her announcement, her campaign coffers are going to be filled to overflowing with small donations, sent in by average voters. I'm betting that she's going to set several fund raising records during her campaign.

This was at the Tea Party Express rally in Reno, NV last week (Go Sharron Angle!). The lady in the cowboy hat with the sweet smile is my wife Sheila. And that’s Syncro’s left eyeball in the upper left as he focuses his video camera.

Sarah was introduced to me by Sal Russo (leader of the Tea Party Express) who introduced me as Jim Robinson from freerepublic.com. She said thank you for all you guys have done, then leaned forward and gave me a little cheek to cheek hug. I took it as she loves the FReepers and pass it on to all of you!!

Woo hoo!! FR is Palin Country!!
