James Richard Rick Perry assumed the governorship of Texas in 2000 when he took over from George W. Bush, who resigned to take the oath of office of President. He holds all records for Texas gubernatorial tenure. Perry has the distinction of being the only governor in modern Texas history to have appointed at least one person to every possible state office, board, or commission position which requires gubernatorial appointment (as well as to several elected offices to which the governor can appoint someone to fill an unexpired term, such as six of the nine current members of the Texas Supreme Court).
Perry was born in 1950 in West Texas to rancher parents. His father was a Democrat on the school board of Haskell County and was also a commissioner. Rick Perry graduated in 1972 from Texas A & M with a degree in animal science. After graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Air Force, completed pilot training and flew C-130 tactical airlift in the United States, the Middle East, and Europe until 1977. He left the Air Force with the rank of captain, returned to Texas and went into business farming cotton with his father. Sounds good so far, doesnt he?
Perry said that his interest in politics probably began in November 1961, when his father took him to the funeral of Sam Rayburn, (Mr. Democrat) who during his long public career served as speaker of the Texas House and the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1984, Perry was elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat from a district that included his home county of Haskell. He served three two-year terms in office. He befriended fellow freshman state representative Lena Guerrero of Austin, a staunch liberal Democrat who endorsed Perrys reelection bid in 2006

Gulag Bound is a crapweasel blog and need not be excerpted.
They used to pimp their garbage here until they got called on it a few times.
Then they ran away. Are you proxy-pimping for them now?
At what rate?
Although I am critical of Perry in some ways, e.g. his entirely gratiutous “it’s not right for Texas” potshot at Arizona’s AB1070, he would be a tremendous improvement over not only Obama (well, of course) but also 2008 McCain.
I don’t like it when he tries to act more conservative than he is, but I”m not gonna rule him out just yet, that’s for sure.
Plus, I say only half-jokingly, he has GREAT HAIR.
Thank you for playing. Try again.
Did Perry jilt her?
He would be Giuliani without the Dress.
No sale.
It's not a real article, it's just a blog post.
Any halfwit that can find a public library can make one of those.
Yep. Did a search and it did not come up.
Sorry about the double post
“Rick Perry was Al Gore’s Texas campaign Chairman in 1988.”
No one cares anymore. Got anything else? Er...other than the obvious Perry threat to your pick?
I hang on the every word from “Gulag Bound”. /s

Amazing..Texas is one of the very few States that has suffered the devastating UE that other States have. And we are losing thusands of jobs at NASA. the attacks on the oil industry were aimed at Texas , don’t kid yourselves.
Yeah Perry has had some stupid props he supported. but when the will of the people became known he backed off.
Or “saw the light” He has been elected Gov. THREE times.
so for all the nasty comments on PERRY, I would take him over ZXero and probably half of the Repub field. You show me ONE Repub contender that can claim the SAME SUCCESSES.
Romney? REEEEALLLY?
At this point- anybody but Obama
NASA SHOULD be losing jobs. It should be de-funded and the private sector should build spaceships. We’re pretty damn close to that point now with Space-X and a couple of other contenders. Welfare for engineers is done. Can’t afford it.
I agree, but I think Perry should be given credit for the foresight of luring Jobs to Texas to replace those jobs lost. That is called leadership. He knows how to create a job environment. Unlike Zero and his idiotic minions.
Should we just cut and paste? :-)
It’s all good :)
