Anchorage Daily News: Poll shows Alaskans would vote for Obama over Palin
Anchorage Daily News ^ | 06/28/2011 | Sean Cockerham

A new Hays Research poll shows Barrack Obama would beat Sarah Palin among Alaskans if the presidential election was today.

The poll found 42 percent of Alaskan voters would pick or are learning toward Obama in a head to head race against Palin for the presidency, while 36 percent of the voters would choose or are leaning toward Palin over him.

Conservative Anchorage radio host Mike Porcaro paid for Hays Research to ask the question.

“Sarah Palin showcases her Alaska roots at every opportunity, but the surprising reality is she has become highly unpopular in her home state,” Porcaro said in an emailed statement.

“Whether it is the fact she left office after serving barely two years or that some Alaskans believe her tax policies have punished our vital oil and gas industry or the ‘rock star’ nature of her media coverage, these results show Sarah Palin would lose to Obama in Alaska, where voters overwhelmingly support conservative candidates,” Porcaro said.

Porcaro hosts an afternoon show on KENI AM and owns an Anchorage advertising agency.

Hays Research of Anchorage polled 500 Alaskans who voted in at least two of the four statewide elections. The poll was on June 21st and June 22nd.

It asked:

“Although it is some time from now, thinking about the election for President of the United States next year, if the election were held today and the candidates were Democrat Barack Obama or Republican Sarah Palin, for whom would you vote or are you undecided?”

Respondents who had “strong” views favored Obama 34 percent to Palin’s 25 percent.

And note that on their page Survey Results they still describe the results in the Statewide poll, and placed right above the "State of Alaska Presidential Survey 6/21/11", as "NEW", despite the year old differences in the dates.

And I like this...
...were chosen from a database of Alaskan households...
What database exactly did they use? Was it a Statewide database or was one created for this poll?
I ain't buying it.

The good news is that they are finally, widely reporting a Palin poll.

The AP/Gfk poll from a few days ago, showing Palin as the most favored of all Republicans was reported as a pro-Bachmann and Cain poll.

So tell me how Gov. Palin beats Obama. If the people who say Palin CAN’T win are WRONG ... tell me how she DOES win ?

Also, can you name the last person who won the presidency — without winning their home state?

BTW don’t bother calling me a RINO or a BushBot. Those straw men arguments have already been tried on me and tumbled in a 1 mph wind.

My top choices are Palin or Perry or Bachman. All are solid conservatives. All would make a fine president.

But which one has a serious chance of winning? And tell me how that electoral map works in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Wisconsin.

Because the rest of the states are True Blue or Real Deal Red.

The winner needs at least 6-8 of the 10

The funniest thing is that if they did create the database to be favorable to Obama they sure didn't get the results they wanted!
He couldn't even get over 50% on a rigged poll! {;^)

Did they oversample Dems by about 20-1 to get this result?

There is no question that Palin would win Alaska, she is their most popular Governor in history, and Alaska has only voted Democrat once, that was immediately after JFK’s assassination in 1964.

Here is a woman who holds no political office and cannot possibly win, we are told.

The media is ceaselessly unleashing its collective fury against her.

The most dangerous woman in America proves the saying, "Your power is proven by the concentration of effort by your enemies."

Do not listen to what people say. Watch what they do.

What is an Anchorage newspaper doing conducting a poll about someone not in the presidential race?

Sarah Palin has more mojo than anyone in American politics and EVERYONE knows it.

Bachmann will quickly fade once Sarah announces. Sarah is the powerhouse.

Looking at the results of 2010 and other factors, Sarah will easily get the states you list (except: New Hampshire likely no, Pennsylvania is still too close) Also, Sarah will easily get Michigan. In 2010 in MI, Snyder the Republican crushed the Rat. I still hold to the belief Sarah will crush the Marxist (>370EV)

It's against the Marxist's DNA to lessen State Power. Even in the face of the crumbling economy, he will not take steps that may help him win. His greed over wanting to destroy the U.S. will likely result in him not getting a second term to finish off our Republic.

Your popularity falls when you quit.

Yep. The truth hurts, doesn't it? Of course, there are many here that will attack you for that common-sense observation. If you don't think Palin walks on water then you are accused of having "Palin Derangement Syndrome." I see "Palin Derangement Syndrome" as an affliction of both her most vicious detractors and her most rabid supporters. The common denominator is that the subject of Sarah Palin makes both equally mindless.
