Way before that (maybe the 60s?) there was a prominent British politician who warned about unrestricted immigration into Britain from her former/current colonies.

He was exciorated in the press and basically run out of politics. Now it appears that there are enclaves in London where the government has virtually ceded authority to the radical muslim street.

Paris has the same problem.

That would be Enoch Powell. Powell was a classical history scholar who went into politics, Foresaw what was happening when UK opened its doors to the whole commonwealth. he gave a speech in 1968 warning of the hazards of unfettered immigration. Naturally, Britain was in the midst of opening itself a vein and trying to commit "suicide by leftist" at the time, so he was pilloried and thrown out of his party's hierarchy.

Now, everything he warned about has come to pass. And the brits are impotent to control their own country any more.
