Fresh off her well-received performance in last week's GOP presidential debate, Rep. Michele Bachmann now tops the field of candidates in a new Zogby poll of Republican primary voters.

The poll found Mrs. Bachmann garnering 24 percent of the vote, well-ahead of businessman Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who each received 15 percent support.

First, the governor of Texas is a rather weak position relative to other states. I wouldn’t say it’s a figurehead position, but it’s much less involved than most states and the Presidency. What Perry was involved with wasn’t simply your typical turnpike but a superhighway that would link Mexico with Canada. This is all part of a plan to have a North American Union, which would be an utter disaster. It would only serve to pull us down to Mexico’s level. As far as Perry being the nominee, I like him more than Romney and Huntsman, but less than Cain and Bachmann. I put him on par with Pawlenty. I feel that there are better governors than Perry, such as Bob McDonnell and Bobby Jindal, but they aren’t running.

What I get mostly from many here is they see Bachmans use of Rollins as an avenue to attack her in favor of Palin

I would think most reasonable social conservatives on this forum and even Fresno would be happy with Bachmann or Palin or maybe Cain or Santorum...the later two being extremely long shots

I am very happy at Bachmans bump...anything to thwart Romney and the establishment

Maybe some Bachmann bashers here should do a thread and see where Fresno and the mods are on it

I’m inclined to agree with you about polling this far out, but the closer you get to an election, the more accurate the polling is. East of the Rockies, the polling was pretty accurate this past November in the leadup to the election.

I realize that there’s no such thing as a perfect candidate. At the current time, all I can do is weed out the ones that I have multiple significant issues with (e.g. Romney), and let the rest fight for my support.

Bachmann is my current favorite, although Cain, Santorum, Paul, and Perry also look good. If the election were held today, I would vote for any of them with no regrets. I would have a far harder time voting for Romney, Huntsman, or Gingrich.

I love Palin, and I would vote for her if she got the nom, but I think the MSM has managed to taint her name over the last 3 years. Sorry, Sarah, you’re a phenomenal kingmaker, but I don’t think you can win the election. Even as a runningmate, I fear you’d drag the ticket down.

Sitting “Congress Critters” elected President:

Kennedy (D), Senator, elected President in 1960.

Harding (R), Senator elected Prsident in 1920.

Garfield (R), Representative, elected President in 1880.

I’m sure there are more, but I didn’t bother to go back further.

A congresscritter is not a senator, you got the only one who ever was elected.

A Prize for you!

I think you misunderstand, Rollins is not well liked by most knowledgeable conservatives to begin with. That he came out and attacked Palin personally right out of the gate while Bachmann said nothing is what people are angry about. For him to attack like that while nothing was said by her says a lot about Michele Bachmann, it says something I didn't know before.

Palin arguably helped put her on the national map when she came and campaigned for her and supported her. To allow the backstabbing of her supposed friend for no reason, while saying little about Mitt and the other declared candidates just frosts a lot of people, tells them Michele doesn't have the character we thought she had, and after what she did there is no reason to think differently.

Per my request here, you have not supplied ANY supporting source information re your charges against Bachmann here. A cursory search on your posts on this forum shows that almost your entire activity is directed against Michele Bachmann.

Hence and per my promise, I am informing the admin moderator and the owner that you are spamming this forum repeatedly with unsupported charges against a conservative candidate for president. BTW, I have as yet no preference for the Republican nomination for president.
