ummm... what was the topic of this thread again?
i forgot...
and my computer won’t scroll past post #10.
I thought Perry did fine, I watched on C-Span. I’d never seen him speak before. The crowd seemed to be into it.
In 1976 Bachmann was 20 years old. She became disenchanted with the democrats and supported Reagan in 1980 when she was 24.
I didn’t know spamming was allowed on FR.
I suspect that there are some pics out there that show Perry in perspective. I’ll get right on it.
Looks like Perry has a "Lucky" Guitar with potential to be an example of a single vanishing point perspective.
Yes, Perry is flat so vote for the other person who Obama is least afraid of. Transparency at its best.
I have zero interest in helping the USA collapse into a mire of governance by twin socialist authoritarian parties.
The Perry pics are fun, they really improve the thread!
Now, I’ll be darned, all of a sudden I’ve got a hankering for honeydew melon.
Sweet!
FR aint the only place they holler and puffup like a blowfish. When you look behind the curtain there is a nutty little guy doing shadow puppets not 40% of the Country.
Guess the Pubbie Conference thinks they have to tolerate the loudmouth paulnutz like PC.
Perry is likely better than Willard, but all politicians disappoint sooner or later. Another Texan soft on the border is problematic for me.
Effa Ralph Z Hallow! Beltway hit piece.
I think his ****’s scared Palin and Perry may team up
That's true, but the in house blowfish are sure riled up over Bachmann and Perry. Post #12 is a good example.
Wasn’t there an earlier post here on FR saying something to the effect Perry was “on fire?”
Hey!!!
Katy Perry is NOT 35 yet!!!
The real Perry is Matthew Perry.
A Friend.
More well known, more popular than Rick Perry.
IS 35.
Yes, if Katy was eligible, she would get more votes than Rick, but she’s not eligible yet.
Millions of people every Thursday watched Matthew Perry on TV, that was for years. Katy Perry, Matthew Perry.
I think that if pollsters are just going to throw in names of politicians for no reason, why not celebrities with the same last name?
Rick Perry
Matthew Perry
Katy Perry
Would Matthew Perry sign an executive order forcing vaccinations for STDs on school children?
No. Would Katy Perry? No. Rick Perry did.
Neither Matthew Perry, nor Katy Perry has attended Bilderberg. Rick Perry has.
I’d say that Matthew Perry has higher name recognition, higher favorables, than Rick. And Rick has higher negatives.
One thing that could be said about Obama is that he could be performing off script. He did not seem to have close ties to the NWO elite. Chicago corruption, Chicago violent Leftists, yes. Odd ties to the Saudis, or Middle East groups. But not a lot of Bilderberg there. So he could be destroying America in a manner not entirely to the Bilderbergs liking. With Rick Perry, you know you’re getting squat. Nothing. More Globalism. Must Protect Bankers. Perry is someone I could see going 3rd party for, or skipping. Romney isn’t as bad.
Same here.
Perry apparentally did very well from what I’ve heard. I’m a little PO’ed here because it seems to be one big experiment at the expense of Rush’s ego.
I mean, two months ago, there was no inclination on Perry whatsoever to run. Then, out of the blue, Rush tells Greta that “Rick Perry” would be his “dream candidate” and “viola” the buzz for Perry began. It seems Rush is out to prove he has the strong hand when it comes to the GOP establishment.
Then last week, Rush offerred a disclaimer on his program saying that people would have to “get over” some concerns on Perry, such as his support of the Dream Act, etc. and that no one is perfect. Then again, Rush says he doesn’t endorse in the primaries, but.
This whole straw poll was a joke. Not only the Paulbots took it over, but Huntsman came in second. A pro-abortion guy comes in 2nd in what’s supposed to be a premier conservative conference. Yeah, sure.
I've become interested in a potential Perry run in the past month as the speculation has intensified. While I think Perry has impressive positive arguments he can make, it's the negatives that need to be addressed.
From what I can gather, there seems to be three major bones of contention. The Guardasil E.O., the Trans Texas Corridor, and illegal immigration.
Perry will have to be able to deflect all three with compelling explanations, because it's obvious his detracters will unload on him. The passion displayed by a number of freepers, and notably a small but vocal segment of the Texas contingent, shows that to be the case.
I believe Perry would trounce Obama on the immigration issue, although he would probably have to defend some of his actions in the primaries.
He could probably deflect TTC as an internal state matter than voters outside of Texas won't focus on, although he would have to be ready to state his position on imminent domain vs. individual property rights.
The Guardasil E.O. is his biggest liability, as I see it. He'd better be ready for that one. When you start messing with children's health and parental rights you better have your ducks in a row. Particularly in Texas, where individual liberty is taken seriously by so many, as it should be but isn't elsewhere.
The opt-out feature and the built-in 18 month delay in implementation are probably politically to his favor.
Putting aside the charges that he and his staff were joined at the hip with Merck, it could be argued that his intentions were good, but he didn't let his head catch up with his heart. Nevertheless, what he did was boneheaded, unilateral, and was later learned to be dangerous. Hopefully he learned from the experience and has the character to admit it.
I've no doubt left alot out, considering Perry's long history, but the three points I mention seem to be the highest flying red flags.
All said and done, and given the existing Republican field, I'm not prepared to dismiss Perry at this point. My main goal is the defeat of Obama in 2012, and I'll support the most conservative candidate who has the best chance of doing that.
I think his ****s scared Palin and Perry may team up
