Freeper help need on 'Gunwalker'
me

Posted on 06/15/2011 8:02:46 PM PDT by ebshumidors

The one thing I couldn't get my head around on 'gunwalker' was why would drug lords by semi-auto AK-47's for $500+ apiece when they could get the real deal for much less through the southern border of Mexico. Then it dawned on me that the only thing that makes sense is if the BATF funded the purchases. We all should ask Issa and Grassley to follow the money.

Other than an eye opening event, this thing is going nowhere legally. Obama/Holder will stonewall all the way to ‘12 and if a pubbie is the new prez, he won’t have the balls to do the right thing.

The only insight I might offer is that the media seldom gets things right and seldom reports what they know, especially if it is unfavorable to the made for TV president.

We may never get proof but this whole mess was created to give the impression that more gun control was needed. It is a created to order crisis, they were exploiting it, and then they got caught when it backfired.

There is nothing the democrats want more than to effectively disarm the American people.

The cartels probably do have access to cheaper guns but it was neccessary that some of them be seen as coming from US civilian sources.

This mess goes all the way to Obama's desk, whether or not we can pin it on his sorry butt remains to be seen.

I agree with everything but the ‘probably’ part. You can’t buy RPG’s and grenades at a gun store.

“but it was neccessary that some of them be seen as coming from US civilian sources” Why would the cartels spend good money on that? They are businessmen, after all.

The aren’t getting those in the US but the liberal damned fools they preach to don’t know that. Facts don’t matter near as much as perception.

If you have bundles of cash on this side of the border, it’s easy enough to spend a small part of it here on hardware?

I have no idea why but they’ve been doing it. No telling how many shady deals are going on.

There is a huge amount of money in illegal drugs. $500 for a semi auto isn’t so much when you are making $1 million (or more) a week. It is much harder to smuggle firearms across Mexico’s southern border that our border. Mexico actually guards it’s southern border while the US border is wide open.

End the WOD, defund the drug lords, and restore our freedoms.

Yes some have suggested that federal employees hoped to use this to back banning of private ownership of guns.

If this treason actually happened and had anything close to the purpose to provide the excuse to seize guns from citizens -- AND NOTHING IS DONE TO BRING THE TRAITORS TO JUSTICE, LEGALLY -- then America is over with until another revolution can re-establish Her.

(prefer the Revolution start with professional military and LEO before . . . .)

Our bureaucracies are loaded with activists and they are often in a better position to change polisy than elected officials.

Agencies like BATF are supposed to be neutral but they've become activist in nature, heavily infiltrated by liberals.

I’ll bet the drug lord’s people are the ones guarding the border. That border is sealed to the central americans who can’t pay to get smuggled through. Anyway, is what I proposed impossible? Improbable? That leaves possible and likely, doesn’t it?

I agree with everything but the ‘probably’ part. You can’t buy RPG’s and grenades at a gun store.

Nor can you buy fully automatic weapons, however the US Government sells full auto M-16s and various other class III armaments to the Mexican government for their army and police units.

I'm sure that when young recruits receive "an offer they can't turn down" that they just walk out with their M-16 and join a drug gang for the vastly better money to be had.

I also suspect that threats against family members of guard and supply troops could very well result in gates being left unlocked while guards take an extended break. Resulting in truckloads of munitions being carted directly out of a military armory.

GtG

I agree but that doesn’t explain the combloc stuff. Or am I off my rocker? I wrote Issa, Grassley, Vanderbough and my closest pubbie rep, anyway.

Roger Hedgecock has been on this story from the first day it came out. His radio show is streamed on the Internet live, and he has a chat room that he does watch during the show. He talks to Darryl Issa periodically and could ask him your question.

Watched part of the house investigation on TV tonight...it was very interesting, expecially the BATF agents. They named names of those that were running it or refused to prosecute...they tried fighting it from inside the department and were told to just do what your told, its none of your business. Also had the family of the last border agent that ended up being killed by one of the straw purchase weapons. The higher ups refused to prosecute any.

In the way of markets, US origin weapons would necessarily go down enough in price to sell in spite of competition from other sources.

I agree but that doesn’t explain the combloc stuff.

That's easy, they are drug cartels, their primary business activity is smuggling, and they have hundreds of millions in cash. They could go to Venezuela and buy a ship load (I did say "ship", right?) of any thing from grenades, RPGs, and land mines to AK-47s and light crew served weapons. They could afford APCs and tanks but that larger stuff would be much harder to smuggle into Mexico.

If Hugo wasn't in the mood to deal I'm sure any of the left leaning South American dictatorships would be more then willing to oblige. Failing there, they could go right to the source and buy them in Russia, Putin would be thrilled to have the chance to further destabilize Mexico and screw with Obama at the same time while making money to boot! However, Russia as a source would be way down on the list because of the increased logistical problems of arranging delivery.

Regards,
GtG
